10 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 11,
The Speaker submitted the memorial of George E. Gain-
brill, contesting the election of Sprigg Harwood as Clerk to
the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel county;
Which was read.
Mr. Lusby moved that the memorial be referred to a select
committee;
Which was decided in the negative.
On motion of Mr. Silver,
The memorial was referred to the committee on Elections.
On motion of Mr. King,
Ordered, That two thousand copies of the address deliver-
ed by the Speaker of this House, be printed for distribution
by the members.
On motion of Mr. Cronise,
Ordered, That the Librarian furnish the members and offi-
cers of tills House with the same amount of extra stationery
and other articles furnished to this House last session.
On motion of Mr. Valliant,
Ordered, That the Rev. J. P. Hammond, be and he is hereby
appointed Chaplain of this House in place of Rev. Mr. Daven-
port, who has removed from the State.
On motion of Mr. King,
Ordered, That His Excellency the Governor, be respect-
fully requested to have the national flag displayed from the
State House dome daily, at the hour of the opening of the
Houses during the session of the General Assembly, and
lowered when the Houses adjourn.
On motion of Mr. Harris,
Ordered, That the clerk be and he is hereby directed to
have printed, and folded, five extra copies of the Journal of
this House for the use of each member, and a like number for
the use of the Chief Clerk and Reading Clerk, and that one
copy he furnished to the publishers of each newspaper in the
State.
On motion of Mr. McCauley,
Ordered, That so much of the Governor's Message as relates
to the finances of the State, be referred to the committee on
Ways and Means; so much as refers to reassessment of proper-
ty be referred to the Select committee on that subject; so much
as refers to the oyster law to the Select committee on that sub-
ject; so much as refers to Immigration to the select commit-
