1866.] OF THE SENATE. .55 Section And be it enacted, That nothing herein con- tained shall be so construed as to authorize the said company . to avail themselves of the privileges of this Act, until at least one hundred thousand dollars of the capital stock shall have been subscribed, and fifty thousand dollars paid in; and fifty thousand dollars subscribed on every additional hundred thousand dollars and seventy-five thousand dollars paid in; Which, was read and adopted; and the bills Were read the second time. Mr. Frazier, from the committee on Corporations, reported i bill to incorporate the Pongoteague Steamboat company; and it Was read the first time. Mr. Tome, from the committee on Finance, reported a bill to amend the Act to provide bounty for soldiers entering the service of the United States, passed at January session, 1865, chapter 33, so as to exempt the bonds therein proposed to be issued by the Treasurer of the State, from State, county and municipal taxation; Which was read the first time; and On motion of Mr. Tome, Was read the second time by special order, three -fourths concurring; and, Ordered to be engrossed for a third reading; and, On motion of Mr. Vickers, Was made the order of the day for Wednesday at 1 o'clock. Mr. Frazier from the committee on Corporation to which was referred the bill to add additional sections to chapter 197 passed at the January Session, 1852, relating to Slaughter Creek bridge, Dorchester county; Reported it without amendment; and. it Was read the second time. Also reported the bill to incorporate the Joint Stock com- pany of the Mount Washington Female College of the M. E. church; With the following amendments: Amendment to title in second line of title, strike out the "word "the" between the words "of" and "Mount." Amend section 2, in line 4, by inserting between the words "stock," and "as" the words "to be issued in such manner and upon such terms and condition," Which was read and adopted; and it |
