PHYSICIAN'S REPORT. To the Managers of the House of Refuge: GENTLEMEN: During no year since the opening of the House in De- cember, 1855, for the admission of inmates, has it, been so free from disease. But few cases of sickness have occurred, and most of those of a mild character. The hospital for the greater part of the year has been empty. At present we have not a case requiring medical attendance. Opthalmia, which has been for so long a time endemic, has for the pre- sent, disappeared. I would call your attention to the fact as an especial cause for congratulation and thankfulness, that there has not been a death in the House since March, 1864. Every precaution has been taken in regard to the sanitary condition of the House for the prevention of cholera, should that dread scourge visit this country. On this subject a. full report, I suppose, will be made you by the committee appointed by you for this purpose. Very respectfully, THOS. F. MURDOCH, M. D. BALTIMORE, January 1st, 1866. |
