Mr. Davis, of Washington, submitted the following
amendment:
At the close of the 10th section add the following: "pro-
vided, however, that one-twentieth of the nett amount of
boomage be annually paid over by the said company to the
Treasurer of the State of Maryland for the benefit of the
School Fund, and also one-half of all the net profits of said
Boom Company over seven per cent., to be paid over in
like manner for the same fund, the said amounts to bo as-
certained from the books of said company, verified by the
oaths of the accounting officers of the company, under the
penalty of a forfeiture of its charter in default of said annual
payments;"
Which was read and adopted.
Mr. McMaster submitted the following amendment:
Section 10, line 7, strike out the words, "as well as a right
of action at law against the owner thereof," and insert, ", and
if unpaid within thirty days after notice, the said company,
after notice by advertisement at least ten days before the day
of sale, shall sell and dispose of the said property at public
sale; and after paying the said charges and expenses, to re-
pay the surplus to the owners;"
Which was read.
Pending its consideration, the Clerk of the House of Dele-
gates delivered the following message:
By THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
February 5, 1866.
Gentlemen of the Senate:
. We respectfully ask that you will meet this House in joint
session in the Hall of the House of Delegates at 2 o'clock
P. M. this day, to receive the Committee appointed by the
Baltimore City Union Convention to lay a resolution protest-
ing against any repeal of the Registry Law, before the Gen-
eral Assembly of the State.

Which was read.
The amendment submitted by Mr. McMaster was then
