1866.] OF THE SENATE. 17 MONDAY, January 15, 1866. Mr. Davis, the Senator for Washington county, appeared and took his scat. Mr. Earle made explanations exonerating- the Librarian from furnishing inferior stationery. Mr. Ohr presented a memorial from the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland; Which was read and referred to the committee on Internal Improvements; Mr. McMaster presented a petition from the Commis- sioners of Worcester county relating to reassessment; Which was read and referred to Select committee upon that subject. On motion of Mr. Lansdale, Ordered, That it be entered, upon the Journal that Mr. Holton, the Senator for Howard county, is detained from his seat by severe indisposition. Mr. McMaster presented, the petition of citizens of Wor- cester county, relating to the Wicomico and. Pocomoke Rail Road Company; Which was read and referred to the committee on Internal Improvements. Mr. Frazier presented the petition, in favor of T. Mowbry; Which was read and referred to the committee on Finance; Also the petition in favor of H.. Coburn, Which was read and referred to the committee: on Finance. On motion of Mr. McMaster, Leave was granted Messrs. McMaster, Earle and Davis to report a bill to amend the Code of Local Laws of Worces- ter county entitled, "Roads." On motion of Mr. Eaton, Leave was granted Messrs. Eaton, Ohr and Lansdale, to report a bill entitled, a supplement to an act to incorporate the Magnetic Telegraph Company, passed at December ses- sion, 1846, chapter 99. On motion of Mr. Whitney, Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary, to re- port a hill to enable Rail Road, Express, Steamboat, and other companies and persons, being common carriers or ex- |
