180 To the re-direct interrogatory filed: A. I never desired it. The above has been read to me and is correct. JAMES DAVIS. Written by and attested to by H. Page, Clerk. William Coster, a witness produced on behalf of claimant, being duly sworn answers and says: "'0 the first interrogatory: A. Sixty-nine years; have voted 56 years; resided in 1865 in District No. 6. 2 nd. A Did apply; took the oath; no charge; no witnesses; an- swe'red all the questions except the last, whether I had sym- pathized with the South on account of the surrender of the Southern army? to which I replied, "I think I did not," which they said was not sufficient, and that I must be posi- tive. I said I could not be positive. I thought I had not expressed any opinion about it. 3d. Did not vote; would have voted for Franklin if I had been registered. 4th. Waived. Cross-Examination: 1st. A. No, sir, I was sorry there wan ,i conflict in the country, wit always opposed to the war. 2d. Waived. 3d. A. I did not. 4th A. I did not. 5th. A. No, sir, .never did. 6th. Waived. |
