179 The above has been read to me and is correct. SAMUEL L. TULL. Written and attested to by Henry Page, Clerk, James Davis, a witness produced on behalf of claimant, being duly sworn, answers and" says: To the first interrogatory: A. Fifty-two years; been a voter for 31 years; resided in 1865 in District No. 6. 2nd. A. Did apply; took the oath; no charge; no witnesses; answered the questions; when the list was published, I found my name was not there; I went before the Registers again; I asked them why I was disfranchised; they told me by "Public Repute," Mr. Conner, one of the Registers, said he was sorry I could not vote; sorry that all could not vote, black and white. 3d. 1 A. Did not vote; I offered my vote; would have Toted for Mr. Franklin. 4th. Waived. Cross-Examination: To the first interrogatory: A. I don't think I did; I don't think I ever expressed any opinion any way; I was always opposed to the rebellion. 2nd. I don't recollect that I did. 3d. No, sir; never rejoiced at the downfall of either side, but always felt sympathy and sorrow at the sufferings of my fellow man. 4th. A. I haven't at any time to my knowledge 5th and 6th. Waived.
