The above has been read to me and is correct. JOHN E. HARRIS. Attested to and written by Henry Page, Clerk. Elijah Freeny, a witness produced on behalf of claimant being duly sworn, answers and says: To the first interrogatory. A. Forty-three years; been a voter twenty-one years; re- sided in 1865, in Salsbury district. 2i. A.. Did apply: took the oath , no charge; no witnesses; was excluded from the qualified list. 3d. A. Did not; -would have voted for Mr. Franklin. 4th. Waived. Cross-examination : C,. At the time of your application for registration, did you or not answer satisfactorily to the registers; the questions propounded to you ? A. I answered all; .there was one they objected to, which was did I or not rejoice over the triumphs of either party ? I told them I tried to subdue my feelings in rejoicing over any human suffering ? Q. What was the reply of the registers? A. They told me they could not. take that as a positive an- swd, and we parted so. Cross-interrogatories : To the first cross-interrogatory. A.
