115 Samuel H. Lankford, a witness produced on behalf of the Claimant., being duly sworn, answers and says: To the first interrogatory: A. Twenty-two years; been a voter one year:, resided last year in district No. 4. 2d. A. I did apply, and was registered as a qualified voter-—at least so I was published, and thought so till the day of elec- tion; was notified of no charge; was confronted with no.wit- nesses; took the oath. 3d. A. Did not vote; went to the polls to vote, and then found my name was not on the registered list; offered my ticket; would, have voted for Franklin. 4th. Waived. Cross-Examination : 1st. Have you ever been within the Confederate lines dur- ing the war? A. I decline to answer, because I do not know whether I have or not. 2d. Have you ever been in the State of Virginia during the war; if so, when and where? A. I was in Lancaster county, Virginia, after the draft; in 1862. 3d. For what purpose did you go to Virginia ? A.
