Thomas Howard, Sr., a witness produced for the claimant, being duly sworn, answers and says: To the first interrogatory: A. 49 years, "been a voter 28 years; resided in 1865 in Dame's Quarter District, (No. 4.) 2d: A. Did apply; was notified of no charge; was confronted with no witness; took the oath and answered all the questions they asked me. 3d: A. Did not vote; did not offer; didn't go to the polls; un- derstood I was disfranchised, and did not go, would have voted for Mr. Franklin. 4th. Waived. Cross-examination: To the first interrogatory: A. None at all. 2d: A. No, sir. 3d: A. No, sir. 4th: A. No. sir, I have not at all, I have neeer rejoiced over either side; I always felt sorry when I heard of a big battle and men being killed. 5th: A. None at all, sir.
