92 To the first interrogatory: A. Born and lived here for 51 years—my age; been a voter for 30 years; resided in 1865 in Princess Anne District, No. 5. 2d: A. Did apply; I went before them, they told me to take the oath; I said I thought I wouldn't take it; three weeks after I went back, took the oath and answered all the ques- tions except one. Mr. Hayman, one of the Registers, told me he couldn't make me answer it, so I went out. A few days after I found I was a legal voter; saw it in the pub- lished list. On the morning of the election, I started to town, and found a gentleman, who told me I was marked off, and was not a legal voter. Was notified of no charge; was confronted with no witnesses. 3d: A. Did vote in the evening; voted for John B. Franklin. 4th. Waived. Cross-examination: To the first interrogatory: A. I can't say I felt any way, I had one son in the North- ern army and one in the Southern army. The other cross-interrogatories waived. The above has been read to me and is correct, JOHN K. HAYMAN, Attested to and written by Henry Page, Clerk.
