William W. Disharoon, a witness produced for J. R. Franklin, being duly sworn answers and says-: 1st: A. Have resided in Somerset county 40 years; have been a, voter 19 years; in Trappe district for 15 years past; resided there in 1865. 2nd: A. That I did not, apply for registration; did not apply because I thought the registers were not competent judges of my loyalty, they were men of prejudices, strong; a good many men who had applied who were as loyal as. 1, and had been turned down, and did not think it worth while for me to apply. 3rd: A. That I did not vote; offered to vote, that is asked 'the judges, to let me vote, they asked me if I was registered, said presume not, they then said I could not vote; should have voted for Mr. Franklin. 4th: Waived. Cross-Examination waived. The above has been. read to me and is correct. WILLIAM W. DISHAROON. Tested and written by Henry Page, Clerk. John E. Covington, a witness produced for John R. Franklin, being duly sworn answers and says : 1st: A. 33 years; voted 12 years; resided in 1865 in Hungry Neck district. 2nd: A. Did apply; took the oath, and answered their questions, not notified of any cause of disqualification; confronted with no witnesses. |
