Have you since April 1, 1861 to 1st April, 1865, in any way favored the supply of the Government with men or money to prosecute the war? A. No, sir. 2nd. At, the battle known as the first battle of Bull Run, did you feel or express any regret at the defeat of the United States army? A. Don't know of having felt or expressed any regret. 3rd. Did you feel or express any gratification at the triumph of the United States armies during the war? A. Not that I mind of. 4th. Have you ever felt or expressed any regret at the de- feat of the Federal armies during the war? A. I believe not. Re-direct examination : 1st.
