WITNESS FOR SAID FRANKLIN.
Th. A. Spence, Contestant, ) Before the House of Delegates of
) Maryland, contesting the elec-
vs- ) tion of Circuit Judge for the 12th
J. R. Franklin, Claimant. )Judicial Circuit of Maryland.
First Interrogatory. Whereyou or not one of the Judges of
Election in the Fifth Election District of Somerset county
at the election therein, on the 7th of November, 1865 ? If
yea, was or not a paper purporting to be a list of qualified
voters in said district laid before the said Judges ? If yea,
when and by whom? If said paper is in your custody, will you
produce and file the same in evidence as apart of your depo-
itions ?
Second. State whether or not the said Judges of Election
conducted the said election in accordance with the said paper
or rejected the same as evidence of a legal registration in
said district ? State all the circumstances connected with tlic
said paper and the action of the said Judges thereon.

Woolford, a witness produced by said Franklin:
1st. Are you or not, the Clerk of the Circuit Court for
Somerset County ?
2d. Was or. not, a book purporting to be a registration of
voters in the Fifth Election District of Somerset county, de-
posited with you as Clerk of the Circuit Court for Somerset
County ? If yea, by whom and when ? State the exact
time ?
3d. Was or not, a list of the qualified voters of the said
Election District filed with you as such clerk, on or before the
day of election, viz: the 7th of November, 1865, by any persona
professing to be officers of Registration in said district, or
any other person or persons?
