14 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 12, On motion of Mr. Ohr, The Senate proceeded to the consideration of Executive business. After a time the Senate resumed the consideration of Legislative business. On motion of Mr. Tome, Leave was granted the Committee on Judicial Proceedings to report a bill to fix the compensation of Crier to the Court of Appeals. The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow- ing message : BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES, January 12th, 1866. Gentlemen, of the Senate: We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body the appointment of a joint committee of seven, four on the part of the House, and three on the part of the Senate, to report a bill for the general revaluation and reassessment of the real and personal estate of the several counties of the State and the city of Baltimore. We have appointed on the part of the House Messrs. Mar- key, Smith of Allegany, Miller of Anne Arundel, and Cook. By order, WM. R. COLE, Chief Clerk. Which was read. Mr. Tome, from the Committee on Finance, reported a bill to authorize the Governor, Comptroller and Treasurer to ex- change or sell the Bank stock belonging to or standing to the credit of the several counties of this State for the free schools or other schools, and to invest the proceeds thereof; Which was read the first time. Mr. Earle submitted the following order : Ordered, That the Librarian be directed to furnish the Senators with proper stationery. Mr. Trail submitted the following amendment: Ordered, That the Committee on the Library enquire into the inferior quality of the stationery furnished the Senate, and whether it be not possible to procure a better article; |
