I further certify, that the witnesses whose depositions are
herewith returned, beginning on page 1, and continuing by
consecutive pages to page 194, were first by me duly sworn to
testify truly and fully in the matter of the contest referred to in
the notifications hereto attached; that I caused the testimony
of the said witnesses, together with the questions propounded
by the parties, or their attorneys, to be reduced to writing
in my presence, and in the presence of the parties or their at-
torneys, by the witnesses themselves or by Henry Page, who
was first by me duly sworn, fairly to write down and transcribe
the deposition of witnesses; that the deposition of each witness
was taken in pursuance thereof and at the time and place men-
tioned in the notifications aforesaid, that each witness signed
his deposition in my presence, after the same had been read
to him.
I further certify the papers marked "claimants exhibit A"
and " claimants exhibit H " and "claimants exhibit C"
severally, were filed by the claimant on the dates respectively
marked thereon, and I further certify that the claimants testi-
mony pursuant to notice will be continued on Tuesday 23 inst.
In testimony whereof, I hereunto subscribe my
[SEAL.] name and my seal, at Princess Anne, this twenty-
second day of January in the year eighteen hundred
and sixty-six

STATE OF MARYLAND, Somerset County, to wit:
I, Levin Woolford, Clerk of the Circuit court for Somerset
county aforesaid, hereby certify, that Edward F. Duer, Esq.
before whom the above certificate appears to have been made,
and whose name appears thereto signed, was at the time the
same bears date, one of the Justices of the Peace of the State of
Maryland, in and for Somerset county aforesaid, duly com-
missioned and sworn, and that his signature thereto is genuine
In. testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my
[SEAL.] name and affix the seal of the said Circuit court this
twenty-second day of January, A. D., 1866.
