136 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 30,
WEDNESDAY, January 31, 1866.
Mr. Lansdale presented the petition of one hundred and
five citizens of Montgomery county, praying for the repeal of
the registry law;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Elec-
tions.
Mr. Ohr presented a petition from Allegany county pray-
ing for an additional registry law;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Elec-
tions.
On motion of Mr. McNeal,
Ordered, That the protracted absence of Rev. Mr. Patter-
son, from his duties as Chaplain, is in consequence of severe
indisposition in the family of his brother in a distant State.
Mr. Trail presented the petition of colored citizens of Bal-
timore city, praying aid from the State in establishing
schools;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Colored
Population.
Mr. Wells, from the committee on Judicial Proceedings,
to which was referred the following bills,
Reported them without amendment; and
They were read the second time..
A bill entitled, an Act changing the name of W. B. Low-
dermilk;
A bill entitled, an Act to repeal and re-enact section 196,
of article 93, of General Law, relating to "Minors and Guar-
dians;"
Mr. Ohr, from the committee on Internal Improvements,
to which was re erred the bill entitled, an Act to incorporate
the Chesapeake Day and Potomac River Tide Water Canal
Company;
Reported it with amendments;
Which were read and adopted,
Mr. Ohr submitted the following amendment:
Section 12, strike out all after the word "toll," in line 6;
Which was read.
Pending its consideration the hour arrived for considering
the order of the day;
Mr. Lansdale moved to postpone it for fifteen minutes;
Determined in the negative.
