47 Thomas A. Spence. That a series of .questions, herewith trans- mitted, numbered from one to ten, inclusive, were filed with me by the Honorable Thomas A. Spence, to be propounded to the several witnesses examined; which were propounded to them, and their depositions are in answer to the said questions, or such of them as were propounded to them. That of the witnesses before him, George H. Richardson and James S. Lecompte were ex- amined on the questions particularly addressed to them; and herewith transmitted, and their depositions were intended to be responsive to those questions. That the whole series of questions from one to ten, inclusive, were propounded to Thomas S. Hod- son, and his deposition was intended to be responsive to them. That to all of the other witnesses examined before me, only the eighth, ninth and tenth questions of the series were propounded, and their depositions were intended to be responsive to those questions. That not concluding the examination of the witnesses brought before him, at 5 o'clock, P. M., he adjourned the exam- ination to 9 o'clock, A. M., of the next morning, Wednesday, the 27th. And having met in pursuance of the said adjournment, he proceeded with the examination, and taking the depositions of the witnesses as on the preceding day. That on Thursday, the 28th day of December, 1865, in pursuance of the aforementioned no- lice, he was at Dublin in the Eighth Election District of Somerset County, and then and there proceeded to examine, on oath ad- ministered by him, and take the depositions of the several wit- nesses brought before him. The eighth, ninth and tenth questions only of the aforementioned series were here propounded to the several witnesses, and their depositions were intended to be re- sponsive to those questions. That in pursuance of the said notice, he was, on Friday, the 29th day of December, 1865, at the house of Theodore F. Long, in the Fifth Election District of Somerset County, and then and there proceeded to examine on oath, ad- ministered by him, and take the depositions of the several wit- nesses brought before him. The eighth, ninth and tenth questions only of the series were propounded to the several witnesses, and their depositions were intended to be responsive to those ques- tions. That in pursuance of the aforementioned notice, he was, on Saturday, the 30th day of December, 1865, at Dashiell's store, in the Tenth Election District of Somerset County, and then and there proceeded to examine on oath, administered by him, and take the depositions of the several witnesses brought before him. The eighth, ninth and tenth questions only were here propounded to the several witnesses, and their depositions were intended to be responsive to them. Not having concluded the examination of the several witnesses, he adjourned the examination to the town of Princess Anne in Somerset County, at 10 o'clock A. M. of Monday the first day of January, 1866; and in pursuance of the said adjournment, was present, and then and there proceeded to examine on oath, administered by him, and take the depositions |
