STATE or MARYLAND, Somerset County, to wit:
We, the undersigned, duly appointed by the Commission-
ers of said county, in due form of law, Judges of election
in District No. 8, do hereby certify and return that we
attended on Tuesday, the seventh day of November, eighteen
hundred and sixty-five, at Dublin, the place appointed by
law for holding the election within said district, and did
then and there appoint T. F. Bonnewell and Benjamin Baily
clerks of the election, who severally qualified as directed by
law. We further certify that we did then and there, before
T. F. Bonnewell, a Justice of the Peace of said county,
qualify as Judges of the election, as by law directed, and
did then and there, at the hour of nine o'clock in the morn-
ing, open the polls for an election for one person as Judge
of the Circuit Court, one person for Sheriff, three persons for
County Commissioners, and one person for Surveyor; that
we continued the polls open until six o'clock in the evening
of the same day, when they were closed, the ballot-box
opened and the ballots publicly counted, when it appeared
that John R. Franklin, for Judge, had one hundred and
twelve votes, and William Howard, for Sheriff, had one hun-
dred and twelve votes, and George Davy, for County Com-
missioner, had one hundred and ten votes, and John E. Fon-
taine had one hundred and eleven votes, and William J.
Langrell had one hundred and ten votes, and William F.
W. Miles, for Surveyor, had one hundred and seven votes,
and Thomas A. Spence, for Judge, had thirty votes, and
Joseph Coulbourn, for Sheriff, had thirty votes, and for
Commissioners, Thomas B. Moore had thirty-one votes, and
James Phoebus had thirty votes, and James. K. Bayfield
had thirty votes, and C. C. Donoho, for Surveyor, had thirty
votes.
