Hon. W. R. COLE, Baltimore, Md.
Sir:—I noticed in the New York Tribune of a recent date,
that you had prepared a pamphlet upon the .subject of Maryland
lands, &c., &c., and that they could be had applying to you.
I have several friends in Western New York, men of considera-
ble means, who are anxious to come to Maryland, but they are-
in want of reliable information in respect to the prices, quality,
susceptibility, &c., of Maryland lands. I. will add myself
also to the list, for I have for a long time contemplated dis-
posing of my land in Western New York, for the purpose of
removing permanently to some part of Maryland. 1 there-
fore desire yon to send to my address (as per heading of tins
letter,) two or three of your pamphlets. If they are not for
gratuitous distribution I will remit the price as soon as I
receive them with bill. I now enclose what I "guess" to
be sufficient for the postage.

of a statement giving a description of the soil in different
sections of the State of Maryland, would he furnished upon
application, I respectfully rcquueyt that you. will s'eud a copy
to my address.
Wiihin a short time I expect to visit your State, in com-
pany with some friends, for the purpose of purchasing some
farming lands, and for that reason desire to obtain all the
information possible in relation to the subject.
