9. The same day viz: Came Mr. Edward Jones. and Mr. Peter. Dent ad-- before theire Maties. Justices of the Pease being both Sworne Attorny at Law - - - There Oath as followeth. - - - - - - - You shall sweare that you shall doe no falshood nor consent to any to be done in this Court and if you and if you know of any to be done you shall give notice thereof to the Justices of this Court, that it may be reformed. you shall delay no man for lucre or malise, , you shall encrease no fees but be contented with the fees of an Attourney to be limmited and appointed by the Court, and further you shall use and demeane your selfe in the Office of of an Attourney in this Court according to your best skill and knowledge. John: Waltham for Pocomoke hundred George: Russell for Mattapony hundred 11th March - Wm: Wouldhave sworne for Bogatoenorton hundred none appointed The Oath for Constables Ordered to be taken as followeth You shall sweare that you shall well and truly serve theire Maties. in the office of Constable: you shall see and cause that theire Maties Pease be well and duely kept according to the Power you shall arrest all such persons as in your presense shall comitt or make any ryott or affray or breach of their Maties. Pease you shall doe your best endeavour upon complaint to you make to apprehend all fellons, barretous, ryoters or persons riotously Assembled and if any such Affenders shall make any such resistenne with force you shall leavy Hue and Cry and shall persue them untill they be taken, you shall doe your best endeavor. Hue and Cry be duely raised and persued against murtherors theeve and other fellons or fugitive Servants, And that the laws and Orders and such others Idle persons comeing within your limits be duely put in execution at your County Court, you shall present all Offenses done against the severall Acts made for the suppressing of drunkenness and also true prsentmt made of all bloodshed affrayes Outcryes rescues and other Offenses comitted against theire Maties. Peace within your limits, you shall well and truly Execute all precepts and warrants to you directed from the Justice of the Peace of this County or higher officers and you shall well and duely according to your knowledge power and abillity doe and execute all things belonging to a Constable so long as you shall continue in this Office.
