36 Somersett County Ss. The Jurors for their Majties. being Sworne upon the holy Evangelists at a Grand Jury held for the body of this County the second tuesday in November last past doe present and find that John: ffrissell of this County did upon the month of July last past wickedly and ffelloniously steal and cary away a Rope belonging to Henry Hayman of this County Planter of his horse of the value of One hundred pounds of tobacco and within ye Jurisdiction of this Court contrary to the sacred and divine Laws of Almighty God and wholsome laws and Institutions of this Province and against the publick peace, therefore their Majesties Attorney Craves judgment may be entered against the said ffrissell according to Law in that Case made and provided. - - - - - - James Sangster Cl Indt: John ffrissell appears and pleads not guilty to the Indictmt. the Severall Circumstances being Considered it was then Ordered that the said ffrissell pay Henry Hayman five dayes worke( and Court Charges. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Somerset County Ss. The Jurors for their Maties being sworne upon the holy Evangelists as a Grand Jury held for the body of this County the second tuesday in november last past doe present and find that Dennis Odeare, John: Poore and Anthony Asher, Servants in this County about the month of October last past, did most wickedly and felloniously Steal and carry away one Boat of about ten or twelve foot long of the value of Six hundred pounds of tobacco belonging to Andrew: Whittington of this County Innholder. and then lying at the Landing of Nathaniel: Davis. in Back Creek contrary to the laws of God and good Institutions of this Province and against the publick peace, Therefore their Maties Attorney Craves judgment may be entered against the said Offenders according to law in that provided &c. - - - - - - James: Sangster Cl. Indt; - - - - - - - The Indtmt.being read. Peter Dent Attorney obliges him selfe for Dennis Odears appea- rance next Court. Likewise Myles Grey obliges himselfe for Anthong Ashers apearance (next) Court, and Edward: Jones for Jonn: Poors appearance next Court, their to abide judgment Somerset County Ss. Child to the great dishonour of Almighty God, Scandall and evill Example to all the good people of this Province, and glorying in the fact, doth villifie the good Laws and Institutions of this Province, Therefore their Maties Attorny Craves judgment may be entered against the said Ann: Butler, according to Law in that Case made and provided, &c. - - - - James: Sangster. Cl: Indt. - - - - - - The Prisoner at ye Barr confesseth to the Indictmt. as also the ffather of the said Molotto Child which she saith is Coll. William Coulbornes Negro. viz Emanuel for which offence the Court doth Order the said Ann to have thirty five lashes upon her bare back well laid on which was executed by the under Sheriffe, after wch ye Court demands Security for her good behaviour and Court |
