34 Henry Hayman being bound by Recognizance comes in person Craves to be discharged from his bond Whereupon the Court Ordered the said Hayman to give new Security. And thereupon came John Covington and William Goldsmith, and by Recognizance did acknowledge to the Court to be justly indebted unto our Sovereigne Lord the King in 20lb. Sterling money a peece for Henry Haymans appearance at our next County Court there to answer to what shall be objected against the said Hayman and to abide judgment as also Court Charges. The said Hayman in 40lb. Sterling to be levyed on their goods and chattells. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Maryland Somerset County Know all men by these presents that I John Cary and Arnold Elzey both of this County are bounden and stand firmly indebted into their Maties King William and Queen Mary in the full and just Sum of fourty pounds Sterling money of England to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind our selves our Heirs Executors, Adminstrators firmly by these presents, dated this fourth day of december Ano. Dom 1689. - - - - - - - - - - - - - The Condition of this Obligacon is such that if above bounden John Cary doe personally appeare at the next County Court to be holden on the second tuesday in January next in this County then and their to Stand and answer what shall be alleadged against him by Philip Askew, or any other in their Maties. behalfe, and that he be of good abearance and behaviour towards all their Maties Leige People of this Province then this to be voyd and of none effect otherwayes to stand and be in full force, power and vertue. Robertson John Cary appears in Court and is Ordered to put in new Security to answer as above. vizt that the said Cary appear the Second tuesday in March following And thereupon came John: Covington and William Goldsmith and bound them Selves by recognizance of 20 a peece to levyed on their goods and Chattells for the uses above said and Cary in 40lb. &c. Somerset County Ss. the Jurors. for their Matie being sworne upon the holy Evangelists at a Grand Jury held for the body of this County, the second tuesday in November last past do present and find that Elizabeth Greer att the house of Stephen Costin hath most wickedly Sinfully and shamefully comitted fornication and borne a Basterd childe to the great dishonour of Almighty God, great scandall and evill example of their Matie. good people of this province and against the Statute in that Case provided, therefore their Matie. Attorney Craves judgment may be entered against the said Offender, according to Law in that case provided. &c. James: Sangster. Clk Indt. The defendt. appears in Court and Confesseth the fact, and therefore Craves that a fine may be taken and punishmt remitted. - - - - - - and thereupon the Court Craves security for fourty dayes worke, dyet. and Court Charges, and that she should presente James Murray next Court to be holdon the second tuesday in March following. And thereupon came William Mead, and George Benson and by Recognizance taken became bound in 10lb sterling a peece to be leavyed on their goods and chattels for their Maties use. the Condition is Such that if the said Eliz. Greer do pay to the Court 40 dayes worke dyet and Court charges, as also appear next Court to prosecute James: Murry then the Recognizance voyd otherwayes to be in full force and vertue. |
