Rich: Murrah - - - - - - - - - - - - - The humble Petion of Bryan Leonard to their Maties Justices of the Peace for Somerset County Sheweth that whereas your petioner is now servant to James: Sangster by the assignment of William Robbinson by an Indenture made and signed by your petioner in the time of your petioners Servitude wth. Indentures by threats and compulsion was forcd to sign, by vertue of which your petioner is deteined and kept by James Sangster Contrary to law in Such cases, so your petioner humbly craves your worships Order for freedom and your petioner as in duty shall ever pray. The Petion Read ye said Byan war Ordered to returne to his Master James Sangster. / Their Majesties. Somerset County Ssc. Henry Leyhton of this County was Sumoned to answer to agt what should be objected agt him in behalfe of their Maties &c Henry. Leyhton And whereas the said Henry Leyhton stands indected in that he the said Leyhton - - - - - - - - - - hath most wickedly sinfully and shamefully Comitted fornication with Ann Adams of this County, and upon her body hath begotten a Basterd Child to the great dishonour of Allmighty God, scandall and evill example of their Maties good people, and agt the good laws and institutions of this Province, Their Maties Attorney Craves judgmt may be entered agt the sd Leyhton according to Law &c. James: Sangster Clk Indt. To which Indtmt the sd Leyhton pleaded not guilty though the sd Anne made Oath that he was the only ffather of her Basterd Child. - - - - - Order given that Henry Leyhton give Security to keep harmless this County from said Basterd Child, and also that he be of the good behaviour C C - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - And thereupon came the said Leyhton and William Bossman and did acknowledge themselves by way of Recognizance to be indebted unto their Maties Leyhton in 10,. sterling. Bossman in 5,. sterl.to be levyed on their goods and chattells for their Maties uses &c. The Condition of which Recognizance is such, that if the above bounden Henry Leyhton do keep harmless this County from the abovesd Basterd Child, as also be of the good behaviour to to all their Maties Liedge people of this Province, and likewise pay all fees due then the Recognizance voyd, or else to be and remain in full power force and vertue. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - wch he made Oath to Dr. John: Vigerous exhibits Severall accompts into Court^ wherein he has made Severall disbursments in tobacco out of the Administration of the Estate of Anne Smith deceased, and therefore humbly prayes that the Worll, Court will please to value that tobacco in money. ----- which being considered, the Court hat valued the tobacco to be worth five shillings pr hundred, and that to be the rate for others in the same speties. - - - - - - - Lib: B.W. 3. vid. folio 40 per petion Andrew: Whittington To the worll Comissioners of Somerset County in Court Sitting - - - - - - - - - - - agt The humble petion of Andrew:Whittington sheweth. Cropper late of this County decd was indebted to yor Petioner 1095 Pounds of tobacco in Caske Jno ffranklin having marryed with Rhodiah:ffosset the Execcutrix of the sd deceased yr Petioner Craves an Order agt the sd ffranklin for the abovesd Tobacco and your Petioner as in duty bound shall pray Which said Sum of 1095lb. tobacco the sd Whittington made Oath to in Open Court. and thereupon the sd Jno. ffranklin Confessed judgment to y sd sum as sd.
