(159) Your humble Petitioner desires so much favour of this most worll: Court to Consider well of the Crime which is here laid to my charge, first the word of God doth say plainly that by the mouths of two or three wittnesses all things shall be Established, and this wicked woman is one which is A bad liver, and that time as she doth accuse me she was run away, and some of the goods was found with her, and a litle before that she run away and broke up a mans house, and stole what she had a mind for, And therefore I desire this most worll. Court to consider whether she be a person fitting to Swear against any man or no and so I rely my cause, first to God, and then to the Worshipfull Bench and I end / Your poore petioner - - - - John: ffleetwood. - - - - - - - - - There being nothing proved against the sd Sears and ffleetwood ye Indtmt was quasht C Joseph: Venables Plt. Somerset County Ssc. Wm: Jenkins late of Somerset County was attached agt to answer unto Joseph:Venables of a plea of trespass upon the Case &c. Wm: Jenkins. Defendt And whereupon the sd Joseph by Peter Dent his Attorney sayth that on the 2d. day of June in the year of our Lord 1689 at Monokin within ye Jurisdiction of this Court was posessed of One Servant boy Named William Jenkins Junior which sd Servant the sd Wm: Jenkins Senior the 5th. day of June in the yeare aforesaid did entertain and from his said Masters keep, and the sd Servant doth still keep and refuse to deliver although often thereunto required but hath hitherto refused and doth still refuse to deliver, whereby ye sd Joseph, saith he is worse, and hath damage to the value of ten thousand pounds of tobacco and thereof he bringeth his suit &c. J:S. viz Ja:Sangster and the Plt also Dent This Indenture made in Annimessex this 4:day of July One thousand six hundred 88 Between Joseph Venables Carpenter on the one party and William:Jenkins of the other part Wittnesseth that the said William Jenkins hath with his free consent bound his Sonn an Apprentice unto the sd Joseph: Venables his Heirs Extrs for the full term and space of seven years to Serve the said Joseph Venables faithfully, and the sd Wm: Jenkins Junior shall behave himselfe in every point and respect as becometh an Apprentice in Consideracon whereof the sd Joseph Venables doth Covenant himselfe to teach him his Art of Carpenter or Cause to be taught and instructed with due corection finding unto his said prentice, meat, drink, lodging apparel and all other necessaryes and to teach him to read and write, and the said apprentice shall not waste the goods of his said Master nor lend them unlawfully to any one he shall not comit fornication nor contract Matrimony within the said term he shall not play at Cards, dice tables or any other unlawfull games, whereby his Master may have any loss with his owne goods or others dureing the sd terme without Licence from his said Master, he shall neither buy nor sell, he shall not be absent from his sd Masters Service day or night unlawfully but in all things as a faithfull Apprentice behave himselfe, in Wittness whereof both parties have hereunto Interchangeably set their hands and Seals the day and year above written his Signed Sealed and delivered in ye presence of us William.
