August 14th. 1690 (158) - - - - - - - Somerset County Ssc. Know all men by these presents that this day to witt the first day of July Anno Domini 1690 William Miller of the County aforesd Cooper appeared before me George Layfield, One of their Mataies Justices for this County of Somerset and did acknowledge himselfe to stand indebted unto our Sovereign Lord and Lady King William and Queen Mary Over England &c. their Heirs and Successors in the just Sum of ten pounds Sterling money of England to be paid to their said Maties their Heirs & Successors for the true performance hereof he binds himselfe his Heirs. Execcutors & Admrs. by these presents . - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The Condition of this Recognizance is such that if the above bounden William Miller doe personally appear before their Maties Justices at our next County Court to be holden the 12th. day of August next, then and their to prosecute agt Marke Sears, a Servant to Thomas Miller and John ffleetwood a Servant to Benjamin Deards both of this County aforesd. on the behalfe of their Maties, that then this Obligation to be voyd and of none effect, Otherwise to Stand in full force, power & vertue -- - Signed Sealed & delivered in the presente of us. Know all men by these presents that this day to witt the first day of July Anno Domini 1690 Thomas Miller & Benjamin Deards of the County aforesd Sawyers appeared before mr George Layfield one of their Maties Justices for the County of Somerset and did acknowledge themselves to stand justly indebted unto our Sovereign Lord and Lady. King Wm. & Queen Mary their Heirs and Successors in the full and just Sum of tenn pounds Sterling money of England to be paid to their said Maties. their Heirs and Successors for the true performance hereof they bind themselves their Heirs & Execcutors & Admrs by these presents. The Condition of this Recognizance is such that if Marke a Servant to Thomas: Miller, and John. ffleetwood Servant to the above bounden Benjamin Deards doe personally appear before their Maties Justices the 12th day of August next at our County Court their to answer what shall be objected agt them by William Miller of the County abovesd Cooper on behalf of their Maties and Stand and abide judgment that then this Recognizance to be voyd and of none effect, Otherwise to stand in full force, power and vertue his Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of us Thomas: ? Court to Consider well of this Crime which is here laid to my Charge, first the word of God doth say that by the mouth of 2 or 3. wittnesses all things shall be established. And this wicked woman is a very bad liver, and that time that she doth accuse me she was runn away and broke up a mans house and stole away what she had a mind for, and therefore I desire this most Worshipfull Court, to consider whether she be a fitt person to Swear agt anyone or no, and so I rely my cause, first to God and then to the worll. bench.
