June 11th. 1690 (114) - - - - - - - The Petition being Read as also this following Indenture Issue was joynd by their Attorneys mr. John: Taylor for plt. and mr. James Sangster for defdt. being referred for tryall to a Jury Jury // of twelve men, who being duely impannelled and Sworne, their names being as followeth viz Capt. William Coulborne. John: Vigerous. Simon: Perkins Junior. Richard Tull. Richard: Hill. William: Bowen Edward: Harper. Cornelius. Ward. Robert: Catling. Samuel: Shewell. John: Carter Adam: Hitch. 12 who having heard the whole matter debated goes forth to consult the same. This Indenture made in the yeare of our Lord God One thousand Six hundred eigty nine and ninety and Wittneseth that Robert Stilt of Pocomoke in Somersett County in Maryland hath of his Owne free will and consent putt and bound him selfe an Apprentice to and with John: Steratt of Pocomoke Cooper, with him his Heirs Executors or Assigns to abide for and dureing the terme or time of five years and six months from the day of the date hereof in the continuall Service of his sd Master, behaving himselfe well and as becometh an Apprentice towards his Master and Mistress, his Masters Secrets is to keep, his goods is not to purloine, lend or make away, Matrimony is not contract every way behaving himselfe as becometh, And the sd John his Heirs or Assigns as Master to the sd Robert is to teach or cause to be taught him the trade or occupation of a Cooper after the best mannor which he the sd John doth or shall practice dureing the sd time, and is to furnish him with Suffitient meat, drink, washing and lodging shoos and hosen, clothes of woolen and linen dureing the time aforesd, and is at the expiration of his time to give him a Cow of three years old, and a Sett of Coopers tools and a Sow and piggs in wittness whereof both parties have hereunto Sett their hands and Seals interchangeably this 24yh. day of ffebruary and year above written. his Signed Sealed and delivered Robert. The word (six) being interlined This above written Indenture was acknowledged by the above named Robert Stilt before sealing and dilivery hereof to be his free and voluntary Act, and that he the sd Robert is freely willing to Serve Richard: Mclure. the above mentioned John: Starrett his Heirs or Assignes the full terme of the above ffrancis: Alexander. written Indenture, according to the true intent and meaning hereof given under my hand the day and yeare above written. Edmund: Howard The aforesd Jury being Returned doe bring in this following verdict.which is Ordered to be entered viz, Wee the Jury find for the Plaintiffe William: Coulbourne. foremn Mr/ Tho: Newbold & mr Lawrence Crawford both Sumoned for plt but not Sworne mr. Edmund: Howard Sumd and sworne for plt: - - - - - - - - - The Vertict being Ordered to be entered as above, Comes mr James Sangster Attorney for deft and Craves an Arrest of judgment, which was granted by all the Court except mr ffrancis Jenkins who Orders that his dissent to that arrest may be entered. Somerset The humble Petion of Walter Lodge. to the Worll. their Maties Justices of the Peace for Somerset County sheweth that whereas John: Loader late of this County, sheweth that whereas John: Loader late of this County did comence an action in this County Court agt your Petioner soe that your Petioners Security=s bayle bond was last Court Assigned onto the plts Attorney whereby your Petioner is now ready to come to tryall and save my bayle harmless and your Petioner as in duty shall every pray &c.
