June 10th. 1690 (110) - - - - - - -The deponents memory I only observed that one mr Browne a Mercht. took on him to argue ye matter with the sd ffrancis in the behalfe of the sd Myner aforesd expressing himselfe as I apprehended very abusively if not malitiously and upon the sd scurrilous language the sd parties left each other this the deponent saith and further saith not signum Sworne before me this 19th. day of May 1690 Robert RI Johnson Samll. Hopkins - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The deposition of John: Watts aged about one and twenty years declareth that about a month agoe One Mr Miner Came to Occoconson to the house where this deponent liveth and took severall clothes from a Nigro which this depont mother bought of the sd Minor of the sd Miner, that is to say One shert as the sd Nigro declared the sd Minor took of his back in the field severall other clothes the said Nigro was then causd to bring in as a linon Wascoat an old black hatt, an old browne Coat, One shoe with a nail in the toe all which sd these this deponent heard the sd Miner say he would retourne to the Owner againe and further sayth not John: Watts Jurat Coram me Ędibuse Gargaphy & dat Mense May 21th. 1690. - - - - Thomas Wellburn - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The Deposition of Judith Clark aged two and twenty or thereabouts saith that when that Mr Mr Minor brought his Nigro to her Masters Elias Taylors he had on his back one white shirt, one white wasecoat, and further she saith that she fetched the coat out of the Barne, and dilivered the sd Coat into the sd Miners hands, and when he had it he showed it to the people in the house and said this the Coat, which the man saith is worth so much but the sum I know not and further saith not Examined and sworne before me this 21th. of May Edmund Bowman - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mr. Hopkins Sr According to your request I Issued hue and cry=s after James: Minor and accordingly he has been apprehended at Gargaphya, I have discoursed him and ffrancis Joyce Mr. Miner has preferred all satisfaction that in reason he can demand for the Nigro=s trangression, Now as to what you assert, he absolutely denies, either contempt ffelony or escape, and sayth he was before you and you had nothing to say to him, which I suppose was Since the date of yours to me, Sr/ I am just going Over the Bay cannot enlarge, Onely thus much intimate, that mr Minor has conside= rable efforts in your parts and here, that there is no fear of his absenting till my retourne, and upon your letter of matters with him be otherwise then at present I suggest I shall be ready to give you all further Satisfaction relative to him that is possibly for you to require to show how much I am.
