- - - - - - - Their Maties Somersett County Ssc. The Jurors for their Maties being Sworne upon
the holy
agt. Evangelists at a grand Jury held for the body of this County the second
tuesday
Emanuel:Nigro in March last past doe present and find that Emanuel: Nigro to Capt.
William
Coulborne of this County Gent in the month of Aprill Anno Domini 1689. did most wickedly, malitiously and
felloniously
steal kill and carry away one hogg of the value of two hundred pounds of tobacco, to the great damage losse and
detriment of their Maties. good people and agt the laws and institutions of this Province, therefore their Maties
Attorney
Craves judgment may be entered agt the sd Emanuel Nigro according to Law in that case made and provided &c.

James: Sangster. Clk. Indtmts. - - -
The aforesd Indtmt being read to which the sd Emanuel pleads not guilty, and for tryall putts himselfe upon
the Country viz a Jury, whose names are as followeth (viz) Lawrence: Crawford. John: Vigerous. Simon
Perkins Junior. Richard: Tull Richard: Hill. William: Bowen Edward: Harper. Cornelius: Ward. Robert Catling.
Samuel: Shewell. John: Carter Adam: Hitch. who being duely impannelled and sworne having heard the Indt
as also the Evidences Sworne and Examined goes forth, and upon their retourne, do bring in this following
verdict. Viz Wee the Jurors doe find Emanuel. Negro. guilty of fact --- Lawrence Crawford foreman 12th June
Evid. sworne for Maties. were Tho: Roe. Ann. Butler. Anthony: Bell.
The Court doth Order the sd Emanuel: five and twenty lashes upon his bare back to be well laid on wch was
performed by the sub sheriffe. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Margeretta Maria Cooper past doe present and find that Margeretta Maria Cooper, Woman Servant to mr.
Edward
Day of this County not having the fear of God before her eyes nor any regard to
his sacred
and holy laws but instigated by the divel, hath most wickedly Sinfully and shamefully Comitted fornication and
borne
a basterd child to the great dishonour of Almighty God Scandall and evill example to their Maties good people of
this Province
and agt the statue in that Case made and provided, Therefore there Maties. Attorney craves judgment may be
entered agt
the said Margeretta Maria Cooper. according to law. James: Sangster. Clk Inditmts
The sd Margeretta Maria Cooper Confeseth to the Indtmt, and sayth that Edward ffowler is the
ffather of her Basterd Child. Order ffowler appear next Court, as also the sd Cooper to prosecute
Order likewise that the said Margeretta pay a fine for her offence comitted, viz, twenty dayes
worke and dyett, and Court charges. whereupon came John: West and did engage himselfe to
Court to pay the abovesd twenty dayes and dyet when demanded as also Court Charges for which
consideration the sd West requires the Court to Order what time the sd Margeretta shall serve
the sd West, which is Ordered to be twelve months from the day of the date. - - - - - - -

agt. Jury held for the body of this County the second tuesday in March last past doe present
and find
John: Hamond that John. Hamond of this County Planter about the month of May Anno Domii 1689. att
the
Indian Towne called Askimene Couson upon Pocomoke River did without Comission
range the
woods and then and their did take up and to his plantation cary away One young bay
horse
from a Mare belonging to mr Edmund: Howard of this County Gent, and the sd horse did unjustly and unlawfully
marke breake and sell as his owne proper goods without either the knowledge or consent of the sd Edmund=
Howard, the said Hamond having no claime property or interest in the said bay stone horse but wilfully, Clandis=
tinely and felloniously did the sd horse steal, and dispose of out of this Province, the sd horse being of the value of
nine hundred ninety and nine pounds of tobacco to the great damage and detriment of the sd Edmund Howard
breach
of the laws, evill example of their Maties. good people of this Province, and agt the publick peace, Their Maties.
Attorney
Craves judgment may be entered agt the sd John: Hamond according to law in that Case made & provided &c.
