Jury held for the body of this County the second tuesday in March last past doe present and find Eliz: Laramore that Elizabeth: Laramore Servant Woman to mr: Stephen: Page of this County not having the - - - - - - - - feare of God before her Eyes nor any regard to his sacred and holy laws, but instigated by the divel hath most wickedly sinfullly and shamefully comitted fornication and borne a Basterd Child to the great dishonour of Almighty God, scandall and evill example to their Maties. good people of this Province and agt the statute in that Case made and provided. therefore their Maties Attorney Craves judgment may be entered agt the sd Elizabeth Laramore. according to Law &c. James: Sangster Clk Indts. To which Indtmt. the sd Eliz Laramore pleads guilty, and saith that Richard. Prise is the ffather of her Basterd Child. it being dead. and for tryall put her Selfe upon the Court. the Court doth fine the sd Eliz. twenty dayes worke and dyett to be paid when demanded, Order to give security for the same, and thereupon came mr Stephen Page Master to the said Eliz. and did engage to Court to pay the abovesd worke and Court charges. the Court likewise Orders the sd Eliz. Laramore to pay twelve months Service to the sd Page for the trouble of his house &c. Their Maties agt. Somersett County Ss. C Joseph Cotler of this County was Sumoned to answer what should be objected agt him in behalfe of their Maties.--------- And whereas the sd Joseph - Joseph: Cotler Cottler stands indicted in that the said Cottler hath most wickedly, shamefully and Sinfully Comitted fornication with Sarah: Ward, Woman Servant to mr John: King and upon her body hath begotten a Basterd Child, to the great dishonour of Allmighty God, Scandall and evill Example of their Maties. good people and agt the good laws and Institutions of this Province. their Maties. Attorney craves judgment may be entered agt the sd Cottler according to law in that Case made and provided James Sangster Clk Indtmts. - - - - - - To which Indictmt. the sd Cotle pleads not guilty. and for tryall puts himselfe upon the Court, who having considered the premisses doe Order the sd Cotler to pay to mr. John: King eight hundred pounds of tobacco, and whereupon came Alexander Prise and in Open Court became Security for the sd Cotler to pay to the sd King (viz) the abovesd 800lb. tobacco. mr. John: King was likewise bound to pay Joseph: Cottlers Court charges which Cotler must repay to the sd King. - Cotler being supposed to have concernd with the sd Sarah Ward. - - |
