P  O  S  T    M E  R  I  D  I  E  M.

    THE senate met.
    The bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower the levy court of Montgomery county to
assess and levy annually a sum of money for the support of Hanna Carter, the resolution in favour
of Gabriel Peterson Van-Horn, the bill, entitled, An act to empower the justices of the levy court
of Kent county to assess and levy a sum of money on the inhabitants of said county for the purpose
therein mentioned, the bill, entitled, An act for increasing the jurisdiction of the corporation of the
city of Annapolis, the bill, entitled, An act for the preservation of the breed of fish in Patuxent
river, the bill, entitled, A supplement to an act, entitled, An act to remove the market-house at the
head of Elk, and establish the same, and for the advancement and regulation of said town, the resolution
in favour of the purchasers of the Widow's Lot, in Cæcil county, the bill, entitled, An act recognizing
the coin of the United States, and the value of foreign coins, as established by the acts of
the congress of the United States, the bill, entitled, A supplement to the act, entitled, An act directing
the proceedings against persons guilty of fornication, with the amendments thereto, the bill,
entitled, An act to ascertain the allowance to jurymen and witnesses of the general courts, and the
several county and orphans courts in this state, and the bill, entitled, An act to confirm the divisions
made in the city of Washington of the estate of John Davidson, deceased, and for other purposes,
were sent to the house of delegates by the clerk.
    The honourable John Campbell, Esquire, appeared in the senate.
    The bill, entitled, An act respecting two tracts of land lying in Allegany county, the one called
Grassy Cabbin, the other called The Desert, was read the second time and will pass.
    The clerk of the house of delegates delivers to the clerk of the senate a bill, entitled, An act for
the destruction of crows in the several counties therein mentioned, thus endorsed; " By the house
" of delegates, November 29, 1796:  Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
                                         " By order,                                  W.  HARWOOD, clk.
" By the house of delegates, December 20, 1796:   Read the second time and will pass.
                                         " By order,                                  W.  HARWOOD, clk."
The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

W    E    D    N    E    S    D    A    Y,    December 21, 1796.

    THE senate met.  Present the same members as on yesterday.  The proceedings of yesterday
were read.
    The bill, entitled, An act for the destruction of crows in the several counties therein mentioned,
was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
    The clerk of the house of delegates delivers to the clerk of the senate a bill, entitled, An act to
lay out and establish a turnpike road from the city of Washington to Baltimore-town, thus endorsed;
" By the house of delegates, December 5, 1796:  Read the first time and ordered to lie on the
" table.
                                         " By order,                                  W.  HARWOOD, clk.
" By the house of delegates, December 16, 1796:  Read the second time and will pass.
                                         " By order,                                  W.  HARWOOD, clk."
    Which was read the first time, and, on motion, ORDERED, That the said bill be committed to
the honourable John Campbell, William H. Dorsey and David McMechen, Esquires, to consider
and report thereon.
    The clerk of the house of delegates delivers to the clerk of the senate the following resolution:

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, December 21, 1796.
    RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore place to the credit of Robert Ramsey, as a
part of his composition money in his warrant of resurvey aforesaid, called Risque in the certificate
now lodged in the land-office of the western shore, the sum of nine pounds nine shillings and one
penny, it being the sum paid to the agent aforesaid, as appears by his receipt, bearing date the
twentieth day of May, seventeen hundred and ninety-six, for the land purchased as aforesaid, and to
which the state could give no title under the purchase.
                                         By order,                                    W.  HARWOOD, clk.
Which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
    The bill, entitled, An act for the destruction of crows in the several counties therein mentioned,
was read the second time and will pass with the proposed amendments.
    Amendments proposed.  In the 5th line of the first page strike out the word "and" and insert
the words " Talbot or."  In the first line of the 2d page, after the word "same" insert " and that it
shall be the duty of each and every justice of the peace, before whom such head or heads may be
brought by virtue of thus or any other act now existing for the destruction of crows, to take and receive
the oath or affirmation of the party bringing the same, free and clear from all charge against
the person or persons making such oath or affirmation, any thing to the contrary in any law notwithstanding."
    The bill, entitled, An act to lay out a road from Deep Point, in Cornwallis's Neck, in Charles
county, until it shall intersect the public road at the New House, on the head of Mattawoman
creek, in said county, was read the second time and will pass with the proposed amendments.
    Amendments proposed.  In the last line of the 2d page strike out the words " any constable"
and insert the words " the sheriff."  In the same line strike out the word "five" and insert the word
"twelve."
