And a bill, entitled, An act respecting two tracts of land lying in Allegany county, the one called
Grassy Cabbin, the other called The Desert, thus endorsed; " By the house of delegates, December
" 16, 1796:  Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
                                                                " By order,                          W.  HARWOOD, clk.
" By the house of delegates, December 17, 1796:  Read the second time by especial order and will
" pass.
                                                                " By order,                          W.  HARWOOD, clk."
Which said bills were severally read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The senate adjourns until Monday morning 10 o'clock.

M    O    N    D    A    Y,    December 19, 1796.

    THE senate met.  Present the same members as on Saturday, except the honourable John Campbell,
Esquire, who had leave of absence.  The proceedings of Saturday were read.
    The bill, entitled, An act for the relief of the poor of Washington county, with the amendments
thereto, the bill, entitled, An act to dispose of Eden School, in Somerset county, and to apply the
money to the purposes therein mentioned, with the amendments thereto, and the bill, entitled, A
further supplement to the act, entitled, An act for the establishment of select vestries, were sent to
the house of delegates by the clerk.
    The clerk of the house of delegates delivers to the clerk of the senate the following resolution:

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, December 17, 1796.
    RESOLVED, That John Patterson, James Steele, James Nesbett, Daniel Norris, Hugh Lyon
and John Sterett, and each of them, be allowed to pay and discharge each of their respective bonds,
given to the agent of this state for the purchase ofd a tract of land called the Widow's Lot, in Cæcil
county, in three payments, as follows:  One third of the principal and the whole of the interest of
each of their respective bonds to be paid on or before the first day of November, seventeen hundred
and ninety-seven, one other third of the principal and the whole of the interest of the remaining two
thirds to be paid on or before the first day of November, one thousand seven hundred and ninety-eight,
and the remaining one third, with the interest thereon, to be paid on or before the first day of
November, seventeen hundred and ninety-nine.
                                                                By order,                            W.  HARWOOD, clk.
Which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
    The clerk of the house of delegates delivers to the clerk of the senate the following bills, to wit:
A bill, entitled, A further supplement to an act, entitled, An act to lay out several turnpike roads in
Baltimore county, and for other purposes, thus endorsed; " By the house of delegates, december
" 16, 1796:  Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
                                                                " By order,                          W.  HARWOOD, clk.
" By the house of delegates, December 19, 1796:  Read the second time and will pass.
                                                                " By order,                          W.  HARWOOD, clk."
And a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act, entitled, An act to remove the market-house at the
head of Elk, and establish the same, and for the advancement and regulation of said town, thus endorsed;
" By the house of delegates, December 17, 1796:  Read the first time and ordered to lie on
" the table.
                                                                " By order,                          W.  HARWOOD, clk.
" By the house of delegates, December 19, 1796:  Read the second time and will pass.
                                                                " By order,                          W.  HARWOOD, clk."
Which said bills were severally read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
    The clerk of the house of delegates returns the bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower
the president and directors of the Patowmack company to contract the breadth of the locks at the
Great Falls of Patowmack, thus endorsed; " By the house of delegates, December 14, 1796:
" Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
                                                                " By order,                          W.  HARWOOD, clk.
" By the house of delegates, December 19, 1796:  Read the second time and will pass.
                                                                " By order,                          W.  HARWOOD, clk."
Which said bill was ordered to be engrossed.
    The president communicates to the senate an account of seals and taxes on proceedings in chancery,
delivered by Samuel Harvey Howard, Esquire, register of the court of chancery, beginning
on the 24th day of September, 1795, and ending on the 24th day of September, 1796, amounting
to the sum of £. 923 13 5 1/2 s, which was read and referred to the consideration of the house of delegates,
and sent thither by the clerk.
    On motion, ORDERED, That the order of this day be postponed until Wednesday next, and the
bill committed to the honourable William H. Dorsey and David McMechen, Esquires, to consider
and report thereon.
    The bill, entitled, An act to extend the public road leading from Easton, in Talbot county, to
Aker's ferry, was read the second time and will not pass.
    The bill, entitled, An act to prevent the exportation of flour not merchantable, and unsound salted
provisions, from the port of Havre-de-Grace, was read the second time and will pass, and, together
with the afore-mentioned bill, was sent to the house of delegates by the clerk.
    On motion, ORDERED, That the bill, entitled, An act to revive an act of assembly therein mentioned,
be committed to the honourable David McMechen, Esquire, to consider and report thereon.
