[Nov. 9] DEBATES 597
Although Delegate Boyer speaks in the
past tense, we are still looking for Delegate
Gallagher to continue to do good work since
he is still at bat. Delegate Boyer.
DELEGATE BOYER: I was afraid of
that, sir.
Mr. President, the Committee on General
Provisions will meet again this evening at
8:00 P.M. in our headquarters.
THE PRESIDENT: Are there any other
announcements by committee chairmen?
Delegate Penniman.
DELEGATE PENNIMAN: Mr. Presi-
dent, the Committee on Style will meet this
evening at 8:00 P.M. We will schedule an-
other one for immediately after the session
tomorrow afternoon.
THE PRESIDENT: Are there any other
announcements?
Delegate Morgan.
DELEGATE MORGAN: Mr. President,
the Committee on the Executive Branch
will hold a brief meeting tomorrow morn-
ing at 9:30 A.M.
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Powers,
not for the purpose of moving adjourn-
ment, but to make an announcement.
DELEGATE POWERS: Mr. President,
the Committee on Calendar and Agenda
will meet tomorrow morning to consider a
matter on which we are receiving more and
more pressure from the delegates as the
debate goes on.
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Grant, do
you have an announcement to make?
I am sorry—Delegate White, do you have
an announcement to make?
DELEGATE WHITE: Mr. President, I
wish to add my expression to the state-
ments that were made by Delegate Kiefer
of the manner of calmness with which you
have been possessed in this long day, and
also to anticipate that for the first time
today that regardless of some of the prob-
lems we had, we were able to vote on cer-
tain issues in the majority, regardless of
the incessant questions that were raised.
I think this Convention is to be compli-
mented.
THE PRESIDENT: Thank you, Dele-
gate White.
Are there any further announcements by
other delegates?
Delegate Boyles.
DELEGATE BOYLES: I would like to
make my presence noted.
THE PRESIDENT: Does any other dele-
gates absent at roll call that desire to indi-
cate their presence?
(There was no response.)
Delegate Hardwicke.
DELEGATE HARDWICKE: Not for
that purpose, Mr. President, but a point of
inquiry: Am I correct in assuming that
you intend to follow roughly the same
schedule that we did today, 10:00 A.M. and
2:00 P.M. sessions for the meeting of the
Committee of the Whole?
THE PRESIDENT: Yes. We would hope
to maintain a schedule of operating from
10:00 A.M. to about 6:00 P.M., with a break
for lunch at 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., as
nearly as we can.
Delegate Storm.
DELEGATE STORM: Mr. President, I
would like to note, if it is in order, that
Delegate Sybert was here all afternoon.
His presence was not noted at the roll
call, but he just had to leave to go to a
bar meeting.
THE PRESIDENT: The Chair will note
that he saw Delegate Sybert present
throughout most of the afternoon.
DELEGATE STORM: That was a bar
association meeting.
THE PRESIDENT: Are there any
further announcements?
The Chair will recognize Delegate Pow-
ers.
DELEGATE POWERS: Mr. Chairman,
I move we adjourn until 10:00 A.M. tomor-
row morning.
THE PRESIDENT: All those in favor,
signify by saying Aye; contrary, No. The
Ayes have it. It is so ordered.
(Whereupon, at 6:00 P.M., the Conven-
tion was adjourned, to reconvene at 10:00
A.M. on Friday, November 10, 1967.)
