384 CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION OF MARYLAND [Nov. 6]
be presented at the same time hopefully
as the majority recommendation of the
committee. To the extent that we are able
to do so on short notice, we will have every
possible assistance available for you by
members of the professional staff and steno-
graphic assistance.
In addition let me say particularly to the
delegates who are members of the Commit-
tee on Style, Drafting and Arrangement,
but as well to the chairmen of the other
committees, I think you must from now on
consider not only that your assignment to
the Committee on Style is your primary as-
signment but it your only committee as-
signment. It is quite obvious from the
schedule that has been worked out that the
Committee on Style will have to be meeting
at night. Other committees will also have
to be meeting at night. You cannot have
one body in two places at the same time.
Therefore, will the members of the Com-
mittee on Style consider themselves divorced
completely from their other committees at
any time the Committee on Style is meeting.
The Chair recognizes Delegate Powers.
DELEGATE POWERS: Mr. President,
I move we adjourn until 4:00 P.M. on
Monday.
THE PRESIDENT: All those in favor,
signify by saying Aye; contrary, No. The
Ayes have it. It is so ordered.
(Whereupon, at 3:10 P.M., the Convention
adjourned to reconvene at 4:00 P.M. on.
Monday, November 6,1967.)
PLENARY SESSION

PRESIDENT H. VERNON ENEY,
PRESIDING
THE PRESIDENT: The Sergeant-at-
Arms will clear the aisles and close the

The Convention will please come to order.
The invocation today will be offered by
the Reverend Father Francis Veith, of St.
Michael's Catholic Church, St. Mary's
County. Father Veith.
FATHER VEITH: We pray to You, oh,
God of Might, wisdom and justice through
Whom all authority is rightly administered,
laws are enacted, and judgment decreed,
assist with Your Holy Spirit of Counsel
and Fortitude the members of this Consti-
tutional Convention that their administra-
tion may be conducted in righteousness and
be eminently useful to the people of this
state by encouraging due respect for virtue
and religion, by a faithful execution of
laws of justice and mercy, and by restrain-
ing vice and immorality. Let the light of
Thy Divine Wisdom direct the delibera-
tions of this convention and shine forth in
all the proceedings and laws framed for
our rule and governing so that they may
tend to the preservation of peace, the pro-
motion of happiness, the increase of in-
dustry. sobriety, and knowledge. May it
perpetuate to us the blessings of equality
and liberty. We pray for His Excellency,
the Governor of this State, for the mem-
bers of this convention, for the members
of the General Assembly, for all judges,
magistrates, and other officers who are ap-
pointed to guard our political welfare that
they may be enabled by Your powerful pro-
tection to discharge their duties in their
respective offices with honesty and ability.
We commend likewise, to Your un-
bounded mercy, all our brethren and fellow
citizens throughout this state that they may
be vested in the knowledge and sanctified
in the observance of Your most holy law.
May they be preserved in unity and peace
so that after enjoying the blessings of this
life they may be admitted to those which
are eternal.
Amen.
