[Jan. 8] DEBATES 3413

Chairman of the Committee on Style,
Drafting and Arrangement: On page 62,
section 32, Clerks of Trial Courts, in lines
10 and 11 strike out the words "Superior
Court" and insert in lieu thereof "superior
court".

THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Koss.

DELEGATE KOSS: Perhaps I do not
understand Resolution No. 52.

THE PRESIDENT: Let me put the
amendment first.

DELEGATE KOSS: This has something
to do with the amendment.

THE PRESIDENT: The amendment is
moved by Delegate Fenniman. Is there a
second?

(TJi e motion was duly seconded.)
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Koss.

DELEGATE KOSS: Paragraph 2 in
Resolution No. 52 gave the Committee on
Style, Drafting and Arrangement the au-
thority to make such changes.

THE PRESIDENT: I think it does,
Delegate Koss. The amendment was pre-
pared before the resolution was prepared.
The reason for it in this instance is not
quite the same as the resolution. I think it
is covered. Would you withdraw the
amendment?

DELEGATE KOSS: Yes, Mr. Chairman,
I will be glad to withdraw the amendment.

THE PRESIDENT: Amendment No. 28
is withdrawn.

Amendment No. 29 will be Amendment
AC.

The amendment is in line 8 on page 65
of the white copy. The Clerk will read the
amendment.

READING CLERK: Amendment No. 29,
to Report S&D-18 by Delegate Penniman,
Chairman of the Committee on Style,
Drafting and Arrangement: On page 65,
Schedule of Legislation, in line 8 after the
word "Schedule" insert the following:
"shall become effective on July 1, 1968,
and".

THE PRESIDENT: The amendment is
offered by Delegate Penniman. Is there a
second?

(Tli e motion was duly seconded.)

THE PRESIDENT: The amendment
having been seconded, the purpose of the

amendment is to provide in one place a
statement as to the effective date of the
schedule of legislation. This is required by
the enabling act. It has not been precisely
stated anywhere else.

Delegate Carson.

DELEGATE CARSON: Again there
ought to be a comma after "1968" if we
are going to be consistent.

THE PRESIDENT: Is there any objec-
tion to modifying the amendment in line 4
to add a comma after the numeral "1968"?

The Chair hears none and the amend-
ment will be so modified. Are you ready
for the question?

Delegate Sybert.

DELEGATE SYBERT: Mr. Chairman,
I am sorry, I did not gather what page and
line of the white copy this appears on.

THE PRESIDENT: In line 8 on page
65 of the white copy.

Are you ready for the question?
(There was no response.)

The question arises on the adoption of
Amendment No. 29 to Report S&D-18. A
vote Aye is a vote in favor of the amend-
ment. A vote No is a vote against.

Cast your vote.
(Whereupon, a roll call vote was taken.)

THE PRESIDENT: Has every delegate
voted?

Does any delegate desire to change his
vote?

(There was no response.)
The Clerk will record the vote.

There being 102 votes in the affirmative
and none in the negative, the motion
carries. The amendment is adopted.

This amendment appears on page 74 of
the white print. The Clerk will read the
amendment.

READING CLERK: Amendment No. 30
to Report S&D-18 by Delegate Penniman,
Chairman of the Committee on Style,
Drafting and Arrangement: On page 74,
section 26, Court Dockets and Files, in
line 35 strike out the word 'of and insert
in lieu thereof the word "in".

THE PRESIDENT: The amendment is
submitted by Delegate Penniman. Is there
a second?
