[Oct 26] DEBATES 309
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Gallagher.
DELEGATE GALLAGHER: Mr. Presi-
dent, the Committee on Legislative Branch
will meet immediately after the end of this
session to continue its voting on the pack-
age before it, and will continue voting this
afternoon and this evening until completed.
We will meet again Monday at 2:00 P.M.
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Dulany.
DELEGATE DULANY: Mr. President,
ladies, and gentlemen, we reached the half-
way point or just about the halfway point
of this Convention, and yet we have not
had the exciting floor debates, nor the
stimulating news stories produced from a
final decision on the floor of the Conven-
tion.
In spite of that, we have had excellent
news coverage. I have enough difficulty, I
think, grasping the issues in one commit-
tee, but our newspaper reporters have to
grasp them in all eight committees. I think
they have done an excellent job on inform-
ing the public on issues to this moment. I
would like to express the appreciation of
the Committee on Public Information to
the press for their excellent coverage of
the Convention. (Applause.)
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Boyer.
DELEGATE BOYER: Mr. President, in
order to allow the typists and the dupli-
cating process to catch up with the discus-
sions we have had, and decisions we have
reached, in General Provisions, there will
be no meeting today after the session. We
will begin again on Monday, immediately
after the adjournment of the Monday
afternoon session, so that we can get into
some other areas. We will be voting next
week, final votes on the many matters, we
have before us.
I might warn the committee that we will
probably be meeting several evenings next
week. Thank you, sir.
THE PRESIDENT: Are there any
further announcements of committee chair-
men? Delegate Scanlan.
DELEGATE SCANLAN: The Commit-
tee on Rules will meet at 3:00 P.M. on
Monday.
THE PRESIDENT: Further announce-
ments by committee chairmen? Delegate
Chabot.
DELEGATE CHABOT: Mr. President,
I would like my presence recorded.
THE PRESIDENT: Do any other dele-
gates present now, not present at roll call,
desire to record their presence? Delegate
Storm.
DELEGATE STORM: I rise for an-
other—
THE PRESIDENT: Let me get this
first. Are there any delegates present now,
not present at roll call, who desire to re-
cord their presence? If not, the Chair recog-
nizes Delegate Storm.
DELEGATE STORM: I just thought it
might be of interest, Mr. President, to
know that the delegate from Frederick
County will be holding a public meeting in
Frederick tomorrow. Anyone who wishes to
come is welcome. This will be at 4:30 P.M.
at the Court House.
On Saturday, I think it would be well to
note, since we will not be here to congratu-
late him personally, that Delegate Cleve-
land is celebrating a birthday, and many
members of his distinguished family will
be joining this distinguished delegate to
wish him a happy birthday. I wish him a
happy birthday. (Applause.)
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Marion.
DELEGATE MARION: Mr. President,
although I think most, if not all, of the
members of the group have had to leave
before now, I wanted to acknowledge to the
Convention the presence today earlier this
afternoon in the gallery here, and in sev-
eral committee sessions this morning, of
approximately 25 members of the tour
group of the Johns Hopkins University
Women's Club who were here under the
chairmanship of Mrs. Byron Tepper.
THE PRESIDENT: Are there any fur-
ther announcements by delegates? Dele-
gate Murray.
DELEGATE D. MURRAY: Thank you,
Mr. President, I rise to a point of personal
privilege.
THE PRESIDENT: State the privilege.
DELEGATE D. MURRAY: We have
done a little name calling. Please take this
in the right way. I would like to add a
name to this. We have a delegate, I mean
a page, from Prince George's County, Miss
Vicki Kidd, an ex-student. I could not let
the day go by without having Vicki intro-
duced to this group. Vicki, will you rise,
please. (Applause.)
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Bradshaw.
DELEGATE BRADSHAW: Mr. Presi-
dent, the members of the Montgomery
