A bill, entitled, A further act to establish and confirm certain acts done by persons holding offices
of trust or profit under the government of the United States, thus endorsed; " By the house of
" delegates, December 24, 1799:  Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
                                                        " By order,                                W.  HARWOOD, clk.
" By the house of delegates, December 31, 1799:  Read the second time and will pass.
                                                        " By order,                                W.  HARWOOD, clk."
And a bill, entitled, An act to enable the justices of Anne-Arundel county court to license and
regulate a public ferry over South river, in said county, thus endorsed; " By the house of
" delegates, December 31, 1799:  Read the first and second time by especial order and will
" pass.

Which said bills were ordered to be engrossed.
    The clerk of the house of delegates returns the bill, entitled, An act for the more effectual
preventing of forgery, and to make it felony to steal bonds, notes, or other securities for the
payment of money, thus endorsed; " By the house of delegates, December 14, 1799:  Read the
" first time and ordered to lie on the table.

" By the house of delegates, December 31, 1799:  Read the second time and will pass with the
" proposed amendments.

    Amendments proposed.  First page, tenth line, between the words "or" and "goods" insert
the words " delivery of."  Same line and page, after the word "goods" insert " or other valuable
articles."  First page, twelfth line, strike out the word "goods" and insert " delivery of
goods or other valuable articles."  First page, thirteenth line, after the word "goods" insert
" or other valuable articles."  Second page, eighth line,  after the first word "or" insert " delivery
of."  Second page, eighth line, after the word "goods" insert " or other valuable articles."
Second page, eleventh line, after the word "goods" insert " or other valuable articles."
Third page, third line, after the word "or" insert " delivery of."  Third page, third line, after

    Which amendments were read, agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed.

The senate adjourns until to-morrow morning 10 o'clock.

W    E    D    N    E    S    D    A    Y,    January 1, 1800.

    THE senate met.  Present the same members as on yesterday.  The proceedings of yesterday
were read.
    The bill, entitled, A supplement to the act, entitled, An act to regulate elections, was read
the second time by especial order, passed, and sent to the house of delegates by the clerk.
    The resolution in favour of Arthur Thompson and wife was read the second time by especial
order and assented to.
    The clerk of the house of delegates delivers to the clerk of the senate a bill, entitled, An act
to change the name of Clement Holliday Waring to the name of Clement Holliday, thus endorsed;
" By the house of delegates, December 31, 1799:  Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
                                                        " By order,                                W.  HARWOOD, clk.
" By the house of delegates, December 31, 1799:  Read the second time by especial order and
" will pass.
                                                        " By order,                                W.  HARWOOD, clk."
A bill, entitled, An act to authorise the register of the land-office to correct the patent therein
mentioned, and a bill, entitled, An act repeal an act, entitled, An act to prevent the going at
large of geese and swine in the town of Havre-de-Grace, in Harford county, passed at November
session, seventeen hundred and ninety-eight, severally thus endorsed; " By the house of delegates,
' December 31, 1799:  Read the first and second time by especial order and will pass.
                                                        " By order,                                W.  HARWOOD, clk."
And also the following resolutions:

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, December 31, 1799.
    RESOLVED, That William Kilty include in the edition of the laws which he is now compiling
under the resolutions of the last general assembly, and agreeably thereto, the acts passed during
the present session.
                                                        By order,                                  W.  HARWOOD, clk.
By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, December 31, 1799.
    RESOLVED, That the sheriff of Baltimore county be and he is hereby directed to contract with
the trustees of the poor-house of said county for the cloathing, maintenance and support, of negro
Daniel, during his natural life, the said negro being the property of this state, and now under
the care of Robert Long, of said county.
    RESOLVED, That the sheriff, after making the contract as aforesaid, make a return thereof to
the treasurer of the western shore, who is hereby directed to pay, in half yearly payments, the
amount so contracted for, not exceeding fifty dollars per annum, to the said trustees, or their order,
