The resolution respecting the laws of this state
compiling by William Kilty, the bill, entitled,
A supplement to the act, entitled, An act for the regulation of officers
fees, the bill, entitled, An
act to lay out and open a road in Cæcil county from Archibald Dysart's
towards Hugh Ramsay's
tavern, the resolution in favour of George Twilly, and the resolution in
favour of James Steele,
and others, were sent to the house of delegates by the clerk.
The bill, entitled, An act to authorise certain commissioners
to lay off a town in Prince-George's
county, by the name of Van's-Ville, was read the second time and will pass
with the
proposed amendments.
Amendments proposed. Strike out from the word
"alleys" in the 8th line from the bottom
of the 2d page to the end of the section, and insert as follows:
" and the said commissioners, or
a majority of them, are hereby required, within the space of twelve months
after completing the
said survey, and locating the same into lots, streets, lanes and alleys,
as aforesaid, under the penalty
of one hundred dollars on each of the said commissioners for neglecting
this duty, to make,
or cause to be made, a correct certificate and plot of the said survey,
and of the respective lots,
streets, lanes and alleys, located thereon, describing and arranging the
said lots in numerical order,
and the said streets, lanes and alleys, by their respective names, and
certifying the metes
and bounds of each of the said lots, streets, lanes and alleys, respectively,
and to return the
same into the office of the clerk of the said county, to be by him recorded
among the land records
of the said county, at the proper cost of the said Gabriel Peterson Van-Horn,
and to be securely
kept therein; and the said certificate and plot, or an official copy thereof,
or of any part thereof,
shall at all times hereafter be sufficient evidence of the said lots, streets,
lanes and alleys, and of
the respective metes and bounds thereof." At the end of the bill
add, " saving nevertheless to
all persons not mentioned in this act their several and respective rights."
The bill, entitled, An act for the punishment of horse-stealers
and other offenders, was read
the second time and will pass.
The resolution in favour of John Ryan was read the second
time and assented to.
The bill, entitled, An act annulling the marriage of
John Crist, of Frederick county, and Susanna
his wife, was read the second time and will not pass.
The bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower
the justices of the levy court of Prince-George's
county to pull down the repository of the records of the register of wills
in said county,
was read the second time and will pass with the proposed amendment.
Amendment proposed. At the end of the bill
add as follows: " and until an office shall be
prepared in the new court-house for the register of wills of the said county,
the justices of the
levy court be authorised and required to provide a suitable apartment for
the preservation of the
papers belonging to the said office, and to levy the expences thereof in
like manner as other
county charges."
The bill, entitled, An act to lay out and open a public
road in the upper part of Queen-Anne's
county, was read the second time and will pass with the proposed amendment.
Amendment proposed. Strike out the words " in
the manner prescribed by the petition" in
the last line of the first page.
The bill, entitled, An act for the benefit of John Shewman,
of Washington county, was read
the second time, and the question put, That the said bill do pass?

The six bills, and the amendments, and the resolution
next before mentioned, were sent to the
house of delegates by the clerk.
On motion, Mr. Dorsey delivers to the president a bill,
entitled, An additional supplementary act
to the act to regulate public ferries; which was read the first time and
ordered to lie on the table.

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, December 30, 1799.
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay
unto Archibald Robinson and Thomas
Barton, administrators of James Barton, deceased, of Harford county, or
their order, the
sum of three pounds three shillings and four-pence, with interest from
the twenty-first day of
September, seventeen hundred and eighty-five, it being an over payment
by James Barton, deceased,
and his administrators, for confiscated property.
