The resolution in favour of Archibald Robinson and
Thomas Barton, administrators of James T U E S D A Y, December 31, 1799. THE senate met. Present the same members as
on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday WE have finished all the business before us, and being convinced that we shall not have a senate after Thursday next, we take the liberty of suggesting to you the propriety of acting upon such business only as cannot well be dispensed with. We have determined not to act upon any private business after Wednesday next, and conceive that the advanced stage of the session, and the great expence already incurred thereby, will justify us in such determination. By order, A. VAN-HORN, clk. On motion, Mr. Dennis delivers to the president a bill, entitled, An act to enable the justices of Anne-Arundel county court to licence and regulate a public ferry over South river, in said county; which was read the first and second time by especial order and will pass. The bill, entitled, An act to empower the justices of the levy court of Harford county to assess and levy a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned, was read the second time and will not pass. The bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower the levy court of Anne-Arundel county to assess and levy a sum of money for the support of Elizabeth Tyers, was read the second time and will not pass. The bill, entitled, An additional supplementary act to the act to regulate public ferries, was read the second time by especial order and will pass. The following message was prepared, read, and agreed to. AS certain inconveniencies are acknowledged to exist under the present ferry laws, as mentioned in our message upon that subject, which we are desirous should be remedied, we have originated a bill, entitled, An additional supplementary act to the act to regulate public ferries, for this purpose. We flatter ourselves, that leaving the policy f the changes contemplated by you to the consideration of a future legislature, you will think it adviseable to adopt the additional provisions which are offered, and we accordingly solicit your concurrence therewith. By order, A. VAN-HORN, clk. The six bills and two messages next before mentioned were sent to the house of delegates by the clerk. The clerk of the house of delegates delivers to the clerk of the senate a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of John Johnson, of Washington county, thus endorsed; " By the house of delegates,, " December 26, 1799: Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table. " By order, W. HARWOOD, clk. " By the house of delegates, December 30, 1799: Read the second time and will pass. " By order, W. HARWOOD, clk." A bill, entitled, A supplement to an act, entitled, An act to facilitate the draining of land in the several counties therein mentioned, thus endorsed; " By the house of delegates, November " 29, 1799: Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table. " By order, W. HARWOOD, clk. " By the house of delegates, December 31, 1799: Read the second time and will pass. " By order, W. HARWOOD, clk."
