The bill, entitled, An act for the more effectual
preventing of forgery, and to make it felony
to steal bonds, notes, or other securities for the payment of money, was
read the second time
and will pass.
The senate adjourns until to-morrow morning 10 o'clock.

December 14, 1799.
THE senate met. Present the same members as
on yesterday. Mr. Ridgely appeared in the
senate. The proceedings of yesterday were read. The honourable
Littleton Dennis, Esquire,
appeared in the senate, and qualified, in the presence of the senate, before
Allen Quynn,
Esquire, one of the justices of the peace for Anne-Arundel county, agreeably
to the constitution
and form of government,
On motion, Mr. Campbell delivers to the president a
bill, entitled, An act to incorporate the
Roman catholic congregation in Cob Neck, in Charles county, which was read
the first time and
ordered to lie on the table.
The bill, entitled, An act to prevent swine and geese
going at large in Liberty-town, in Frederick
county, the resolution in favour of Walter Dulany, the resolution in favour
of John Derry,
and the bill, entitled, An act for the more effectual preventing of forgery,
and to make it felony
to steal bonds, notes, or other securities for the payment of money, were
sent to the house
of delegates by the clerk.
On motion, ORDERED, That Mr. Dennis be added to the
committee appointed on the bill, entitled,
An act for appointing a wreck-master in Worcester county.
The bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower
the levy court of Anne-Arundel county,
to assess and levy annually a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned,
was read the
second time by especial order and will pass.
The senate then proceeded to the election of a person
to be commissioned as register of wills
for Kent county; the ballot box being prepared, the ballots were deposited
therein, sealed up,
and delivered to the committee of the senate appointed to meet the committee
of the house of
delegates, who retired to the conference room, and after the examination
of the ballots returned
and reported, that Richard Barroll had a majority of votes.
Whereupon it is declared in the senate, that Richard
Barroll be recommended by the senate
to be commissioned by the governor as register of wills for Kent county.
The clerk of the house of delegates delivers to
the clerk of the senate, a bill, entitled, An act
for the relief of Gilbert Murdock, of the city of Annapolis, thus endorsed;

A bill, entitled, An act respecting a partition of the estate of John Davidson,
deceased, and a
bill, entitled, An act to authorise Charles Gassaway, of Montgomery county,
to alter part of a
road therein mentioned, severally thus endorsed; " By the house of delegates,

A bill, entitled, An act to repair the public gaol in Saint-Mary's
county, a bill, entitled, An act
to authorise and empower the levy court of Montgomery county to assess
and levy annually a sum
of money for the purposes therein mentioned, a bill, entitled, An act to
declare certain roads in
Baltimore county public highways, and a bill, entitled, A supplement to
an act, entitled, An act
authorising the justices of the levy court of Queen-Anne's county to levy
a sum of money for the
building of a prison in the said county, and to regulate the same, severally
thus endorsed; " By
" the house of delegates, December 14, 1799: Read the first and second
time by especial order
" and will pass.

The bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Gilbert
Murdock, of the city of Annapolis, was
read the second time by especial order and will pass with the proposed
amendment.
Amendment proposed. At the end of the bill add
the following words, " their several and respective
rights."
The bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower
the levy court of Montgomery county to
assess and levy annually a sum of money for the purposes therein mentioned,
was read the second
time by especial order and will not pass.
The bill, entitled, An act respecting the poor-house
of Baltimore county, was read the second
time by especial order and will pass.
The senate adjourns until Monday morning 10 o'clock.

A Y, December 16, 1799.
THE senate met. Present the same members as
on Saturday. The proceedings of Saturday
were read. The honourable William Hemsley, junior, Esquire, appeared
in the senate,
and qualified, in the presence of the senate, before Allen Quynn, Esquire,
one of the justices of
the peace for Anne-Arundel county, agreeably to the constitution and form
of government.
