VOTES and PROCEEDINGS, November, 1799.
general court of the eastern shore at September term, seventeen hundred
and ninety-nine, with
six per cent. interest thereon from the time stated in the said judgments,
on or before the first day
of May next, and that execution thereof be accordingly stayed; and that
on the payment of the
said principal sum, with interest of six per cent. as aforesaid, and the
several costs of suit, on the
said first day of May, the said Tristram Martin and Abner Parrott be
released from the payment
of the fifteen per cent. imposed for the non-payment thereof by the time
limitted by law.

Which was read the first and second time by especial order and assented
to.
The senate adjourns until to-morrow morning 10 o'clock.

A Y, December 13, 1799.
THE senate met. Present the same members as
on yesterday, except Mr. Rigdely, who is
indisposed. The proceedings of yesterday were read.
The bill, entitled, An act respecting the public roads
in Washington county, the resolution in
favour of Tristram Martin and Abner Parrott, and the resolution in favour
of William A. Needham,
of Montgomery county, were sent to the house of delegates by the clerk.
The president communicates to the senate a letter from
his excellency the governor, notifying
the resignation of John Nicholson, register of wills for Kent county; which
was read and referred
to the consideration of the house of delegates, and sent thither by
the clerk.
Mr. Hammond, from the committee to whom the bill, entitled,
An act to prevent unnecessary
delay and expence, and for the further advancement of justice, in the court
of chancery, was
committed, reported the said bill without amendment.
The clerk of the house of delegates delivers to the
clerk of the senate a bill, entitled, An act
for the relief of James Brown and William Thompson, of Charles county,
Frederick Koones, of
Prince-George's county, and John Kelly, of Montgomery county, a bill,
entitled, An act to authorise
and empower the levy court of Anne-Arundel county to assess and levy annually
a sum of
money for the purpose therein mentioned, a bill, entitled, An act for the
relief of Thomas Hewitt,
of Prince-George's county, and a bill, entitled, An act for laying out
a road from Isaac Simmons's
dwelling plantation, near Herring creek, to intersect the main road leading
to Tracy's
landing, in Anne-Arundel county, severally thus endorsed; " By the house

in Frederick

GENTLEMEN OF THE SENATE,
THE office of register of wills of Kent county being
vacant, by the resignation of John Nicholson,
we propose, with the concurrence of your house, to go into an election
to fill the vacancy
on to-morrow. We have appointed Mr. Taney and Mr. Cottman to join
such gentlemen
as you may appoint to examine the ballots. Messieurs Richard Barroll
and Simon Wilmer are
put in nomination by this house.

The following message was prepared, read, agreed
to, and sent to the house of delegates by
the clerk.

GENTLEMEN,
THE senate have agreed to proceed to the election of
a register of wills for Kent county to-morrow
as proposed by your message, and have appointed the hour of twelve o'clock.
We have
named David McMechen and William Hindman, Esquires, to join the gentlemen
named by you
for the examination of the ballots. No person is put in nomination
by the senate in addition to
the gentlemen named by you.
