The clerk of the house of delegates delivers to the
clerk of the senate a bill, entitled, An act
to compel the attendance of the members of the general assembly, thus endorsed;

The clerk of the house of delegates delivers the engrossed
bill No. 16, with the paper bill
thereof, which engrossed bill thus endorsed; " By the house of delegates,
December 7, 1799:
Read and assented to.

W. HARWOOD, clk."
The paper bill No. 16 was sent to the house of delegates
by the clerk.
His excellency the governor attending in the senate,
ORDERED, That Mr. Carroll and Mr.
Hammond wait on the house of delegates, and inform him that his excellency
the governor is
attending in the senate room for the purpose of signing and sealing an
engrossed bill, and request
their attendance.
The speaker, attended by the members of the house of
delegates, appeared in the senate, and
the following engrossed bill was presented by the speaker to his excellency
the governor, who
signed and sealed the same in the presence of both houses.
No. 16. An act to incorporate a company for the
purpose of cutting and making a canal between
the river Delaware and the Chesapeake Bay.
The bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Tristram
Dalton, of the city of Washington, was
read the second time by especial order and will pass.
The bill, entitled, An act to pay the civil list, and
other expences of civil government, was
read the second time and will pass.
The bill, entitled, An act to compel the attendance
of the members of the general assembly,
was read the second time by especial order and will pass with the proposed
amendments.
Amendments proposed. In the second line from the
bottom of the first page strike out the
word "four" and insert the word "three." At the end of the bill add
the following clause:
" This act to continue in force until the third Monday in September, in
the year one thousand
eight hundred and one, and no longer."
The senate adjourns until Monday morning 10 o'clock.

A Y, December 9, 1799.
THE senate met. Present the same members as
on Saturday. The proceedings of Saturday
were read.
The bill, entitled, A supplement to act, entitled, An
act for the opening of Second-street,
in the city of Baltimore, was read the second time and will pass with the
proposed amendments.
Amendments proposed. In the twelfth line
of the second page strike out the words " Jones's
Falls" and insert the words " to Frederick-street." In the thirteenth
line of the same page, after
the word "persons" insert the words " holding houses or lots on South-street."

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, December 9, 1799.
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay
to Philip Reed, of Kent county, or
order, the sum of fifty-four pounds one shilling and seven-pence, it being
the amount of his claim
against the state of Maryland, including interest up to the first of November,
seventeen hundred
and ninety-nine.

RESOLVED, That the governor of this state be and he

governor of Pennsylvania, and also to the governor of Delaware, with all
convenient expedition,
