And a bill, entitled, A supplement to the act, entitled, An act for the more effectual collection
of the county charges in Allegany county, endorsed; " By the senate, December 30, 1799:
" Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

" By the senate, December 30, 1799:  Read the second time by especial order and will pass.

Which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The house adjourns till tomorrow morning 9 o'clock.

    THE house met.  Present the same members as on yesterday.  The proceedings of yesterday 
were read.
    The resolution in favour of Arthur Thompson, and wife, the bill for the relief of John Johnson,
of Washington county, the bill respecting a partition of the estate of John Davidson, deceased,
and the message relating thereto, were sent to the senate by the clerk.
    Mr. J. T. Worthington has leave of absence.
    Mr. Wallace, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:
    THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Clement Holliday and Clement Holliday
Waring, of Cæcil county, beg leave to report, that they have taken the same into consideration,
and are of opinion that the prayer thereof is reasonable, and ought to be granted.

Which was read.
    Mr. Bond, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:
    THE committee to whom was referred the memorial of Robert Amos, of Harford county,
report, that they have taken the same into consideration, and are of opinion that the case merits
the interference of the legislature in his behalf, but, from the complicated nature of his case,
your committee are of opinion that an investigation of the subject would take up more time of the 
house than could reasonably be expected thereon at this late period of the session, therefore beg
leave to suggest the propriety of the following resolution:
    RESOLVED, That the memorial of Robert Amos, collector of the taxes in Harford county for
the years 1783 and 1785, together with the papers relative thereto, be referred to the consideration
of the chancellor, who is hereby authorised to determine finally on the same; and that the
treasurer of the western shore pay to the said Amos, or his assigns, the sum of money the chancellor
may decree in his favour, as due from the state of Maryland.
                                                        By order,                                    L.  GASSAWAY, clk.

    The report on the petition of George Aires was read the second time, the resolution therein
contained assented to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
    The report on the petition of John Whiteford was read the second time, and the resolution
therein contained assented to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
    The amendments to the bill to lay out certain roads from Andrew Gore and James Cooper's
mill, in Baltimore county, were read the second time, agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed.
    The report on the petition of Elizabeth Presley, was read the second time, and the resolution
therein contained assented to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
    The report on the petition of Philip Reed was read the second time, and the resolution therein
contained rejected.
    A petition from Jesse Jarrett, of Harford county, praying the register of the land-office may
be authorised to receive a certificate which was omitted to be returned in time, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Street, Mr. Bond and Mr. Ayres, to consider and report thereon.
    The report on the petition of the trustees of Allegany county school was read the second time,
and the question put, That the house assent to the resolution therein contained?  The yeas and
nays being required, appeared as follow:

So it was resolved in the affirmative.
Sent to the senate by the clerk.
    A petition from Catharine Bowman and Daniel Bowman, of Washington county, praying an
act may pass to correct an error in a certain patent, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr.
Geoghegan, Mr. J. Buchanan and Mr. Cellar, to consider and report thereon.
    A representation from the prisoners confined in the gaol of Baltimore county, stating certain
abuses committed by the sheriff and gaoler, was preferred, read, and referred to the committee
of grievances and courts of justice.
