VOTES and PROCEEDINGS, November, 1799.
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore
be and he is hereby authorised and required
to pay to the adjutant-general of this state for the time being the sum
of six hundred
dollars, and no more, in quarterly payments, as his salary for the year
one thousand eight hundred,
provided the adjutant-general reside or keep an office at the seat of government.

Which was read.
Mr. Johonnot, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the memorial of Vachel
Stevens, examiner-general of
the western shore, have attentively considered the same, and are of
opinion that the fees allowed
are inadequate to the duties of the office; they therefore recommend that
some further
provision be made by law in favour of the memorialist, and that the act,
entitled, An act to increase
the fees of the examiner-general of the western shore, and the examiner
of the eastern
shore, be continued, and submit the propriety of the following resolution:
RESOLVED, That Vachel Stevens, examiner-general of the
western shore, be directed to lay
an account on oath of all fees of office by him received between the first
day of January and the
first day of November next, and that the treasurer of the western shore
pay to said Vachel
Stevens such sum of money, as, added to the amount of his fees, shall make
up the sum of three
hundred pounds current money.

taxes in Allegany county, was read

A petition from the members of the Lutheran congregation
in Frederick-town, praying to be
authorised to raise a sum of money by lottery to defray the expence of
building a steeple tot he
church belonging to the said congregation, was preferred, read, and referred
to Mr. Sappington,
Mr. J. Thomas and Mr. Warfield, to consider and report thereon.
A petition from Arthur Thompson and Anne Thompson, of
Saint-Mary's county, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Leigh, Mr. Greenwell and Mr. J. Buchanan, to
consider and
report thereon.
The clerk of the senate delivers a bill, entitled, An
act declaring a road leading to a fork of
Conowago road in Baltimore county a public highway, endorsed; " By the
