Mr. Street, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
a bill, entitled, An act to authorise and
lay out a public road from Thomas Underhill's mill to intersect the road
leading from John Neale's
to John Coxe's, in Harford county; which was read the first time and ordered
to lie on the table.
Mr. Quynn, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
a bill, entitled, An act relating to
certain public roads in Anne-Arundel county; which was read the first time
and ordered to lie
on the table.
Mr. J. T. Worthington, from the committee,
delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act
to open a road from the turnpike road leading towards McAllister's-town,
at or near the widow
Mortar's, to intersect the York turnpike road at or near Benedict Hurst's
tavern; which was
read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
Mr. Potter, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Anne
Miller, of Caroline county, report
that they have had the same under their serious consideration, and are
of opinion that it
would be improper for the legislature to grant the relief prayed for at
this time, and therefore
submit to the house the propriety of referring it to the next general assembly.

The report on the petition of John Crist was read
the second time, concurred with, and leave
given to bring in a bill pursuant thereto. ORDERED, That the committee

Mr. Thompson, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of sundry
inhabitants of the upper part of
Queen-Anne's county, have taken the same into consideration, and are of
opinion that the prayer
of the petitioners is reasonable, and ought to be granted, and that a law
ought to pass appointing
commissioners to lay out a road agreeably to the prayer of the said
petitioners.

Archibald Dysart's towards Hugh Ramsay's tavern. ORDERED, That Mr.
Wallace, Mr. Haynes
and Mr. Taney, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
Mr. Leigh, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Francis
Noble, of Saint-Mary's county,
beg leave to report, that they have taken the same into consideration,
and are of opinion that
the prayer of the petitioner is reasonable, and ought to be granted.

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of sundry
inhabitants of Allegany county,
praying that the road established by the levy court of said county from
a tract of land called
Bear Camps, through Selby's part to the Virginia line, at a place called
Jening's Cabin, may be
confirmed and declared a public road, report, that they have taken the
same into consideration,
and are of opinion that the prayer of the petition is reasonable, and ought
to be granted.

Mr. Brome, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of the
trustees of Lower-Marlborough
academy, in Calvert county, and others, report, that they have taken the
same into consideration,
and are of opinion that the prayer thereof is reasonable, and that its
the interest of this
state to facilitate the diffusion of knowledge, by promoting literary institutions;
they therefore
submit the propriety of the following resolution:
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be
and he is hereby required to pay to the
trustees of Lower-Marlborough academy, or order, annually a sum of three
hundred dollars,
to be appropriated to the use of said school.

Mr. J. Thomas, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the representation
of the adjutant-general, relative to
the militia, report, that they have taken the same into their serious consideration,
and find,
that the duties of the office have been performed with diligence and fidelity,
as far as it was in
the power of the adjutant-general. Your committee further report,
that the office of adjutant-general
appears absolutely necessary to carry into effect the militia law of this
state; they therefore
recommend the following resolution:
