The resolution in favour of Walter Dulany, endorsed; " By the senate, December 12, 1799: " Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table. " By order, A. VAN-HORN, clk. " By the senate, December 13, 1799: Read the second time by especial order and assented to. " By order, A. VAN-HORN, clk." The house proceeded to ballot for a register of wills for Kent county, and the ballots being deposited in the ballot box, the gentlemen named to strike retired, and after some time returned and reported, that Richard Barroll had a majority of votes. Whereupon RESOLVED, That Richard Barroll be, and he is hereby declared to be, register of wills of Kent county. Mr. Goldsborough has leave of absence. A petition from Samuel Vincent, of Baltimore, praying that he may be authorised to charge for extracts taken from the assessment lists, as clerk to the commissioners, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Carroll, Mr. Ridgely and Mr. Brown, to consider and report thereon. Mr. Swearingen, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower the levy court of Montgomery county to assess and levy annually a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned; which was read the first and second time by especial order, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk. Mr. Worthington, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower the levy court of Anne-Arundel county, at their discretion, to assess and levy a sum of money to repair the buildings of the free-school of said county, or to dispose of so much of the timber on the land belonging to the said school as will be necessary to complete the repairs; which was read the first time and ordered to be committed for amendment. The report on the petition of Rezin Davidge was read the second time, concurred with, and leave given to bring in a bill pursuant thereto. ORDERED, That the committee appointed on the said petition prepare and bring in the same. The bill for the relief of Robert Gover, of Harford county, was read the second time, and passed. The bill relating to the public roads in Kent county, was read the second time by especial order, and passed. On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill for the punishment of horse-stealers and other offenders. ORDERED, That Mr. Warfield, Mr. Taney and Mr. Nabb, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same. A petition from Thomas Cockey Deye, of Baltimore county, praying a return of interest due on certain final settlement certificates paid into the treasury, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Cottman, Mr. Hall, Mr. Ridgely, Mr. Key and Mr. Duckett, to consider and report thereon. A petition from Samuel Turbutt Wright, of Queen-Anne's county, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Franklin, Mr. Brome, Mr. Key, Mr. Thompson and Mr. Lowrey, to consider and report thereon. |
