On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill to alter
and amend a public road leading from Ninian
Caughran's store, on Jening's run, up Will's creek, to intersect a
road leading from Bedford,
in Bedford county, Pennsylvania, at the Pennsylvania line. ORDERED,
That Mr. Beall,
Mr. Perry and Mr. Rice, be a committee to prepare and bring in the
same.
A memorial from Rebecca Dulany, of Baltimore county,
stating, that she is entitled to her
dower in certain lands conveyed by her husband, Daniel Dulany to his
son Daniel Dulany, junior,
and praying relief in the premises, was preferred, read, and referred
to Mr. Key, Mr. Barroll,
Mr. Digges, Mr. Taney and Mr. Duckett, to consider and report thereon.
Mr. McPherson, from the committee, brings in and
delivers to the speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the letter of
John Callahan, register of the land-office
of the western shore, report, that they have had the same under their
consideration, and are of
opinion that it will be materially necessary that he examine the records
with the original certificates,
as mentioned in his letter; they therefore submit the following resolution:
RESOLVED, That John Callahan, register of the land-office
of the western shore, be and he is
hereby authorised and required to compare the record BC and GS, No.
51, with the original
certificates, and to correct them where necessary.

THE house met. Present the same members as
on yesterday, except Mr. Turner and Mr.
Johonnot. The proceedings of yesterday were read.
The bill for the more effectual preservation of
the breed of wild deer in Somerset and Dorchester
counties, was sent to the senate by the clerk.
Petitions from John Kennedy and Allaise Crouze,
of Baltimore, and John Flemming, of Montgomery
county, praying acts of insolvency, were preferred, read, and referred
to the committee
appointed on petitions of a similar nature.
Mr. Edmondson, from the committee, brings in and
delivers to the speaker a bill entitled,
An act for the relief of Robert Elliott, of Talbot county; which was
read the first time and ordered
to lie on the table.
Mr. Dunn has leave of absence for a few days.
On motion, the question was put, That the house
reconsider the resolution relative to the claim
of Thomas Contee? Resolved in the affirmative.
On motion, the question was put, That the words
" this house at the next session of" be struck
out of the said resolution, and the words " the next" be inserted?
Resolved in the affirmative.
The question was then put, That the house assent
to the said resolution? The yeas and nays

So it was determined in the negative.
A petition from Richard Butler, of Frederick county,
praying depreciation of pay as quarter-master
during the late war, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Shriver,
Mr. J. Thomas and
Mr. Sappington, to consider and report thereon.
A petition from sundry inhabitants of Anne-Arundel
county, and others praying the levy
court of the said county may be authorised to assess a sum of money
for repairing the road leading
from Mrs. Urquhart's tavern to the city of Annapolis, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr.
Harwood, Mr. Brogden and Mr. Hall, to consider and report thereon.
A petition from Michael O'Daniel, of Montgomery
county, praying the levy court of said
county may be empowered to levy a sum of money on said county for his
support, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Swearingen, Mr. Riley and Mr. Barber, to
consider and report thereon.
Mr. Mason, from the committee, brings in and delivers
to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement
to an act, entitled, An act relating to the public roads in Caroline
county; which was
read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
The clerk of the senate delivers a bill entitled,
An act for the benefit of Richard Ross and
William Ross, of Prince-George's county, endorsed; " By the senate,
November 23, 1799:
