    And from the clerks and sheriffs, for fines, forfeitures, marriage, ordinary and retailers licences,
&c. the sum of £. 10125 8 3, subject to deductions for insolvencies and remissions of fines.

    November 12, 1799.
Which was read.
    ORDERED, that Mr. McPherson, Mr. Key, Mr. Turner, Mr. Duckett, Mr. Cottman, Mr.
Addison and Mr. P. Thomas, be a committee to consider and report thereon.
    A petition from Abner Parrott and Tristram Martin, of Talbot county, praying to be released
from nine per cent. interest due from them to the state as securities of Daniel Powell Cox, late
sheriff of said county, and that they may be authorised by law to collect by distress and sale the
balances due the said sheriff, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Edmondson, Mr. J. Thomas
and Mr. Key, to consider and report thereon.
    A petition from Philemon Brooke, of Dorchester county, praying the levy court of said county
may be authorised to levy a sum on the said county for his support, was preferred, read, and
referred to Mr. Pattison, Mr. S. Frazier and Mr. Goldsborough, to consider and report thereon.
    Mr. Buchanan, from the committee, brings in and delivers to the speaker the following report:
    THE committee to whom was referred the petition of sundry inhabitants of the city and
county of Baltimore, praying to be erected into a corporation for the purpose of establishing an
institution for the maintenance and education of poor female children, report, that to them the
proposed institution appears highly worthy of legislative encouragement, and are of opinion that
the prayer of the petitioners ought to be granted.

Which was read.
    The bill to empower the justices of the levy court of Charles county to assess and levy annually
a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned, was read the second time, and passed.
    A petition from Esther Kenner, of Dorchester county, praying the levy court of said county
may be authorised to levy a sum of money on the said county for her support, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Keene, Mr. Goldsborough and Mr. Dunn, to consider and report
thereon.
