LAWS OF MARYLAND.

23 of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, so as
to confer upon said Railway Company, the right and power
to use electricity as a motive power instead of steam; to
charge such compensation for hauling passengers, parcels,
packages and freight as the board of directors may from
time to time determine, and to borrow money, issue bonds
and secure the payment of the same.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Alary-
land, That in addition to the powers and rights conferred
upon the Hagerstown and Frederick Railway Company, under
the General Laws of this State, authorizing the formation of
railroad companies, that the said Hagerstown and Frederick
Railway Company be and it is hereby authorized and empow-
ered to use electricity as a motive power instead of steam.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the board of
directors of said railway company be and they are hereby
authorized and empowered to haul passengers, packages, par-
cels and freight on said railroad, and to charge such rates as
compensation therefor as they may from time to time
determine.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the board of
directors of said railway company shall have power to issue
in the name of said company bonds to an amount sufficient,
in the judgment of said directors, to construct and fully equip
said railway, and to secure the payment of the same by mort-
gage of all or any part of the property, rights, franchises,
tolls and revenues of said company.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 388.
AN ACT to add an additional section to Article 22 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Washington
County," sub-title "Hagerstown," to follow Section 161A,
and to be known as 161A-2.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the following additional section be added to
Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Washington County," sub-title "Hagerstown," to fol-
low Section 161A, and to be known as Section 161A-2, and
to read as follows:
