SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Washington County
be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to levy an
amount of taxes, in addition to that now levied, sufficient to
refund and pay to Lucy M. Howard, of Hagerstown, Mary-
land, the sum of two hundred and twenty-five dollars and
fifty-five cents erroneously paid by the said Lucy M. Howard
to the tax collector of Washington County.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
Approved, April 7 1900.

CHAPTER 386.
AN ACT to repeal Section one hundred and ninety-four of
Article 22, of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled
"Washington County," sub-title "Hagerstown," and to
re-enact the same, with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section one hundred and ninety-four of Article 22,
of the Code of Public Local Laws, be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, so as to read as follows:

Hagerstown.

194. All property within the limits of Hagerstown, or what
may have a situs there by reason of the residence of the
owner therein, shall be taxed for municipal purposes, and the
assessment for town purposes shall be the same as that for
State and county purposes; and in case any real estate
assessed for State and county purposes be divided by the town
boundaries, the Mayor and Council shall place a fair valua-
tion upon that contained within the town limits and make a
just apportionment of said assessment. Should any property
liable to be taxed for town purposes be omitted in the county
assessment, the Mayor and Council shall have power to in-
clude said property in the town assessment and impose a just
valuation thereon.
SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from
the date of its passage.

AN ACT to amend the charter of and to grant certain
additional powers and privileges to the Hagerstown and
Frederick Railway Company, a corporation duly incorpo-
rated under and in accordance with the provisions of Article
